I know it's to be expected as it's one of the most common symptoms during pregnancy, but it gets really, really painful sometimes. I went out for a walk a few days ago and I nearly cried due to the sharp, stinginess that my breasts were having.

I have had it on and off since about 8 weeks and am now 22 weeks. Is it normal for them to be that painful and anything that eases them in any way i.e. a certain cream, a bath etc?

Hi OP, its normal for them to be painful yes but it does sound like you are really suffering. What sort of bra are you wearing and when did you last get a fitting done?

Underwired bras can be very painful during pgcy. It might be a good idea to go and get a fitting (M&S are quite good if you dont want to spend heaps) and get a really supportive bra that isnt moulded, padded or wired.

I also find keeping them supported all the time helps, so wear a sports bra in bed etc. The stinging you mention when out for a walk - that to me sounds like increased sensitivity to the cold. Its horrid and not much you can do except wrap up warm when heading out and make sure you're covered up.

Hope you find it eases soon.

Soon as I switched to non-underwired they got much better. I bought a cheap sports bra from asda for bed, really comfy

mine flared really badly around the 3-4 months with my first pregnancy. I can''t remember everything I did but I needed to see a GP a couple of times while they tried to figure it out - as I think I had a lot of discolouration too / more than you would expect. At one point the midwife thought it might be thrush on my breasts because they looked shiny! The one thing that did help was changing from bras with artificial material to pure cotton ones.

Thank you all.

I had a fitting about 3 or 4 weeks ago and it generally is a lot better but yes the cold is a big issue.

Ishould also wear a sports bra in bed really, should definately give that a go.

Thanks :) v
