Cholestasis in second pregnancy

Just wondering if anyone has experience of cholestasis in more than one pregnancy? I has it with my first so have been warned its likely with this one but have felt really well so was hoping to avoid it. I'm 30 weeks and have just started itching. Feel a bit panicked and don't know how urgently I need to see my midwife/GP. Still waiting for consultant app as well. Any suggestions?

Don't panic! You will need to be tested as soon as you can make an app but at the same time they will not usually do much at 30wks you might get prescribed piriton or something stronger if it's a high level, I am
On my second pregnancy but early on my sister had it in both of hers but actually tested neg until about 30 odd weeks, she had it badly both times and was induced just after 37 wks second time, she waited til her mw apps before getting the bloods done but you can call the labour ward number and tell them if you feel really bad or the itching is uncontrolable, what stage did you get it in your first pregnancy?

Thank you! First pregnancy it was about 35-36 weeks and I was induced at 38 (had PE as well) Really hoping this itching just goes away!

Fx but don't worry if it doesn't, you got through it first time and I'm sure you will again, my dsis had a better second pregnancy as did my mum who had it with all 3 hers was better each time and they both had it really really badly and my mum from the start of pregnancy( aparently it is common to run in family's although I'm constantly told it doesn't mean you'll get it by mw Hmm) it's unpleasant as you know but they do take good care of you, my tests were neg first time till 37 weeks when I went into spontaneous labour the day after so didn't even get the results, I was itching from around 28wks but never got ill , best to get tested as they will give you vitamin k earlier in prep for labour

Thanks for the reassurance kittens. It shouldn't come as a surprise with me but last time it was so late in my pregnancy and I was poorly with PE anyway so was in and out of hospital and felt like I didn't really have to manage it myself and was very much focussed on them inducing me. Guess I'm worried this time at the thought of itching and worrying for the next 8 weeks and trying to get on as normal with work/Christmas/toddler etc.

Well I say get a test ASAP then just so you know where you stand, if it's neg then you can put it out of your mind for abit although I'm sure you will still think you'll have it as I did but if the levels are low at that point you know there's nothing to worry about for the time being anyway, no point fretting yet

You're right there's nowt that can be done for now! Having a bath to try and take my mind off the itching. Seeing doc tomorrow for dd so might try and sneak in a quick blood test while I'm there. Thank you for the hand holding x
