I'm 32wks so think it's time to start packing my bag ready for hospital. It's my second but I didn't take any food with me the first time and was pretty ravenous after the birth and the tea and toast the hospital provided just didn't cut it!

So I need some inspiration of what to pack, obviously it needs to have a longish shelf life as I'm not due for another 8wks.

Thanks Xmas Smile

My mum brought me a tupperware full of sandwiches after I gave birth, bless her! Nutrigrain bars were great on the postnatal ward. A bottle of squash to make the water a bit more exciting!

Nickelbabe - the midwives managed to find some marmite to go on my toast!

Unless you're induced using syntocinon (which increases likelihood of CS) or expecting a CS, there's no reason to starve during labour.

I took Nutri Grain bars in with me this time. Fucking lovely.

Do not give in to this "allowed" nonsense. You do what you want in labour and if any busybody tells you otherwise ask them to point out in Nice guidance where it says to starve in labour.
This is an outdated attitude and has no place in the NHS.
Even if you need an emerg section it will be done under epidural and food does not affect that. Crash sections under anaesthetic are v rare and even in normal surgery now it has been proven striving does nothing, other than lengthen recovery time.

Not blueberries whatever you do :-)
I was sick so much that this time I'll take smooth food that won't acidic/ a frightening colour if it's seen twice.

I was denied WATER as C-section likely whilst on drip. I would have happily killed the consultant had I been able to get up, 'you'll regret it when you're throwing up in theatre...' ummm no, I'll give birth normally as planned thanks and not. Thank god for the midwife smuggling in ice-cubes, even though she was shouted at.
