Braxton Hicks this early?

I've been having what I think are some Braxton Hicks for the last 3 weeks.

I'm still only 18.5 weeks.

I only ever had one BH with DS so I'm not sure if they actually are that, but my tummy goes totally tight and tingly, and hard at the bottom. It's not exactly sore, but quite uncomfortable.
I only every have one, sometimes two, and it lasts about a minute. It's always in the evening once I'm sitting down.

DS was born prematurely, is this a sign that this baby is thinking of making an early appearance too?

Hey with ds2 I started getting them at 15wks all was fine had him at 40wks can be pretty common, my mw wasn't concerned. But does sound like braxton hicks, as you get later on in pregnancy like towards the end they do come slightly uncomfortable, but also I would get checked as sometimes infections can cause tightnings xxx

Ive been having them since this early bloody uncomfatable ones too. Sounds pretty much same as what you are having. MW just kind of nodded said its quite normal when I rose a concern about it.

I've been having them since about 17 weeks. They're really strong after an orgasm!

I don't think they're anything to worry about but your midwife is there to advise and support you, ask her for reassurance.

My BH started at around 16wks with DD2 and she was 11 days late! I got them with DD1, but only from around 32wks and she was 9 days late. I think it was through overdoing things, but having a toddler and being a childminder, doesn't really lend itself to relaxing!

Thanks everyone for the reassurance, I have mentioned it to the doc & she said just to keep an eye on it, but I've never come across it so early before and neither had anyone I know, so good to get some more input.

Women can actually start having braxton-hicks as early as 6 weeks, but due to the uterine size, they probably aren't felt. Second and subsequent pregnancies tend to have more uterine activity too. No worries, totally normal!

Thanks trumpets Smile

I've only had it once and that was at around 17 weeks. It freaked me out quite considerably, but glad to know it's relatively normal.

Sometimes being dehydrated, having low blood sugars, or over-doing it can cause more braxton-hicks too. So if you're noticing more than usual, those are things you can check in with yourself about.

Sorry only just seen this - yes Timey I did read that thread the other day...something worth mentioning next time I go I think, although I haven't any of the other 'symptoms', just the BH.

I did follow what trumpets said though and the last few days I've upped my water intake especially in the evening, and tried not to get stressed with DS all the bloody time as much, and I've only had one in the last 3 nights, so looks like that has helped too.
