Why does nowhere seem to have cottoned on that it's winter? All the tops I've found are short sleeve t-shirts! Where are the long sleeves and jumpers? Help me!

Mothercare do 2 for £18, one black, one white - I wear them under the short-sleeved stuff. H&M have a few bits and pieces... Good luck Smile

Try on-line - Gap and New Look have a good selection of long sleeve tops and jumpers

I bought a knitted dress in H&M last week for £20. I have worn it twice already over the long sleeve tops mentioned by SoHHKB and black leggings.
They also had some jumpers.

Haven't been in New Look for a few weeks but they are usually quite good and cheap.

NoTeaForMe · 03/12/2012 09:28

Our New Look has a lot of short sleeve t-shirts and some 3/4 lengths which would be fine but not in my size! All the good value 3 for £15 long sleeve t-shirts are online exclusives and are out of stock in nearly all sizes! Typical! I saw them weeks ago but didn't want to get them too early, no I need them and I can't find any!

Matalan and Peacocks both have long sleeved tops.

Twinklestarstwinklestars · 03/12/2012 09:51

I've just ordered some from new look, our local stores are all small so easier to order online, I ordered 3/4 length as I prefer them but there were long sleeved I think they were 13.99 ish for 3.

Where do you people live that you can actually go and browse a reasonable selection of maternity wear in the shops? I live smack bang in the middle of London, I have easy access to a lot of the flagship stores which are not too small to house a proper maternity range and yet they all have bugger all in them Sad. A meagre representation of what's on the websites. It's so frustrating! I don't want to order everything on spec, usually in 2 sizes because I don't know how they will come up (especially as it's expensive to do this if you're not particularly flush), wait 4 days, come home and find a red card from the post office because I've actually had to leave the house, then wait for a day that I actually have time to go and queue up in the sorting office to pick up my parcel only to come home and find the bloody thing is too small or the fabric is nasty etc and then still have nothing to wear a week later. It's bloody infuriating!

havingkittens I know what you mean, it's my biggest moan. I have been amazed by our nearest city, Bath, has a great range of shops that carry maternity wear. New Look, H&M and Dorothy Perkins are great, but they do tend to run out of the bigger sizes. Yet was gobsmacked that a M/L in H&M fits me and bump so well. I'm normally an 18-20 in most tops. Bottoms are out though, I have had to buy them online [Next] and I had both the 20 and 22 and there didn't seem to be a difference between them at all.

H&M Mama has been by far my top pick for maternity wear, the jumpers are generous all over, long and a nice shape [and price], the tops are brill and have lasted well. I am on my second pregnancy and a friend has borrowed stuff as well.

I have yet to find a good coat. Maternity in plus sizes [over 18] is sparse and most goes out of stock as soon as it's released as they are the only places that stock it. I'm in DH's old fleece, I just look fat rather than pregnant and it's not a smart look.

snowtunesgirl · 03/12/2012 14:50

Try Ebay for maternity coats.

I got a splendid Debenhams wool one for only a tenner. I just gave it a quick dry clean and it was perfect.

Havingkittens · 03/12/2012 14:58

I'm a bit of a vintage lover and already had a big fake fur swing coat that I'd bought last winter, which is quite cozy, nice and spacious and looks nice.

kellestar · 03/12/2012 15:20

See Maternity Coats seem to stop at an 18, I need a 20 at least, prefer a 22 so i can have some layers on.

I survived last pregnancy with a green wool double breasted coat, that was almost like a swing coat, it was lovely but it just about made it to last december and then it just fell apart. I'd been patching and repairing as it was going apart but it got to the point of being mostly repairs. It was great for breastfeeding, as my boobs meant most normal coats wouldn't even do up over the monsters. I also managed to get DD underneath in her sling.

Plus size maternity wear is almost as hard to find as hens teeth.

StuckOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 03/12/2012 15:21

havingkittens I have recently found this out also to my cost... Most maternity stuff is only available online (the only shops I found in the Trafford Centre with clothes to try on was H&M and Mamas & Papas and their size ranges were limited - I couldn't find a pair of work trousers in a 12 at all!)
Unfortunately I've ended up going online - god knows when I'll actually get the items

Havingkittens · 03/12/2012 15:24

I've just come across this site today and they seem to have a reasonable amount of plus size stuff www.everydaymaternity.com/plus-size-maternity-wear-c-30.html

I also found H&M great but for warm layers I am still wearing a big cardigan I got from Isabella Oliver when I was pregnant with my DS 3 years ago. Yes they are quite pricey but I have found it totally worth it. They do coats as well. I also found this cardigan in Jigsaw which drapes well and although not maternity, does the job. I'm 36 wks and normally size 18/20.....
