Flying whilst pregnant

Hi everyone,

I am just doing a bit of research as myself and fiancé get married in April and want to start trying for a baby straight after our wedding.
I am aware that it may take some time to get pregnant, but we fly from London to Beijing 7 weeks after we marry (on honeymoon) and I am concerned that if we are lucky enough to get pregnant quickly is it still safe to fly?
I was hoping that some people who are already pregnant can give some advice as we would rather not postpone trying until after honeymoon as we know it can take up to a year to fall pregnant and neither of us want to waste time!

Thanks for any help.

Citydweller - that book is really useful but without wanting to hijack the thread, I'm a frequent flier for work and had to take Valium before flights (not great when you have meetings to attend!) I would honestly never have imagined it, but I was given a present of hypnotherapy sessions... I never looked back. Actually enjoyed flying, didn't care about turbulence, could sleep on planes! (Something in my brain seems to have 'reset' since being pregnant, think it is purely mind over matter. Considering more sessions if I still feel anxious after baby arrives, if you can give it a try!)

OP really glad you feel reassured and I certainly didn't want to scare you or put you off. You sound pretty relaxed about the whole thing so enjoy your fab holiday!

Flew at 9 and 15 weeks and currently am 18 weeks. I also flew 2 days after we conceived but had no clue I what was taking place inside me at the time. I have had a sickness free pregnancy so flying hasn't been any different for me than than it normally would. Thing is that you just can't predict how pregnancy will effect you. So just go with the flow-flying is not dangerous for your baby. Just keep hydrated and move around as you nobly would. If you are unlucky to be sick then you'll just have to grin and bear it. Not worth putting off your honeymoon on the off chance you might be pregant.
