13 weeks & struggling to feed myself - ideas?!

I need some really quick & easy lunch suggestions. I've had problems with really bad nausea, exhaustion & dizziness throughout this pregnancy & am still struggling to stand up long enough to do more than get lunch for DS. As a result I'm finding I'm keeping my blood sugar up by eating junk. I need some ideas for healthier things I can make quickly, or things my DH can prep & I can bung in the microwave. I would eat the same thing as DS but the thought of cheese or peanut butter sandwiches makes me feel ill! Sad

Anyone got any bright ideas?

This pregnancy for the first 15 weeks I lived on soup and bread! Admittedly my 19mo eats the soup as well so I am making it for his lunch to start with. Favourites include parsnip and caramelised onions, leek and cheddar, and minestrone.

Good luck and fingers crossed you nausea passes soon too.

Pitta bread and houmous and a soup
Beans on toast
Premade pasta dish you can heat up - or pasta, pesto, cheese if you're up to cooking it
Toasted sandwich

Hopw you feel better soon

Eggs are very quick to cook and nutritious. Can you stomach something like scrambled eggs on toast or an omelette? Failing that good quality ready meals that can be microwaved are probably better than eating junk, or ask your DH to cook a roast and then you can have cold meat salad or sandwich.

Soup has been good for me. Also toasted tea cakes! They really seem to hit the spot. Bet crumpets would too!

jojoba ack I remember that phase, I'm 19 weeks now and just getting an appetite back and the energy to prepare things. I was also turned off the smell of many things cooking and can only recently start to enjoy cooking again.

The odd fishfinger butty was good [normally hate the things, but when pregnant I seem to lurve them]. Also a croissant, cut in half and smeared with a small amount of marmite and grated cheese, then melted in the microwave. DH made me a vegetable ratatouille that he portioned in bags for me, froze for me to reheat later, was good stirred through pasta with a bit of cheese on top.

I know they aren't considered healthy options... but healthy is in the eye of the beholder... when pregnant it's best to eat what you can stomach no matter what, your weight will balance out and you can eat healthier when you feel like it.

Also someone told me not to eat fresh fruit, which digests fast with things that take a long time to digest as the fruit starts to break down and cause gas, which then bloats your tummy and makes you feel rank.

I lived on porridge... prunes mixed in or banana to keep you regular :)

I puked a lot and soup was just too sloshy and would trigger the puking.

I found I actually didn't want bland stuff, and craved more yummy things (YMMV). How about some filled pasta (the type you boil for 3 minutes) with a pasta sauce, with some grated cheese on top? Really easy and not too unhealthy.

Oh sorry just saw your comment about cheese, skip the cheese!

What about things on toast such as beans, spaghetti hoops, scrambled egg?
Omelette with various fillings
Soup
Bagel
