NT Scan at 10 weeks - too early?

I've got my booking appointment scheduled for the 9th December, just short of 10 weeks, which from what I can tell is fairly normal, but last night the appointment for my NT scan came through at exactly 10 weeks.
On one hand I'm pleased it's so soon but on the other hand a bit worried that they won't be able to see everything as clearly if I had it a bit later.
I'm guessing they know what they're doing booking it in then, but just hoped someone could set my mind at rest that 10 weeks wasn't too soon?

Thanks

It is too soon. NT needs to be between 11 and 13 weeks. Give the hospital a call, perhaps they think that you just want a dating scan and not NT.

Speak to your midwife. My 20 week scan date came through far too early, and when I queried it with her she told me to ring and re-book for a later date. It wasn't a problem to do this. It is helpful to be able to say 'my midwife told me to change this'.

Thank you. I'm so glad I asked, I thought I was just being silly.

I've been given similar dates to you and they had to be changed as there have to be 5 working days between having bloods taken at booking in and your nuchal scan (if you want to know the downs risk)... We did want to know so they've now moved my scan to Xmas eve! Grin

im worrying about mine too

where i live they say it needs to be from 11+1 and but i know other areas say 11+2

By my LMP i will be 11+3 for my scan, but given that i know the date i will only be 11+1 for my scan
My friend had hers at 11+1 (same hospital) just a few weeks ago, and her baby wasnt big enough to do it.

I think if mine isnt big enough i just wont have it...... the risk of downs is already very very very small, due to me being young enough, no history etc etc and i wouldnt have an amnio regardless of the result

Call them and change it, I had my 1st scan at 10 weeks and then went back 2 weeks later for another scan to do all the tests.

I called the midwife, she's also said to move it on at least a week.
Thanks for your help.

I was given a scan date that turned out to be too early for them to do the Downs measurements (it was 10.4 weeks but had been an estimate of 12weeks which I always suspected was wrong). It wasn't any problem though as she just asked me to book another appointment at the desk and they gave me one for two weeks later. I was pleased because it meant DH and I got to see the baby at 10.3 and have the reassurance of seeing heartbeat etc and then we went back two weeks later and saw it all again, so from that POV it worked out really well! Depends how much you enjoy going to scan appointments I suppose!
