Best basic babygros / vests

Have now had the all clear for 20 week and fetal cardiac scans, and so am going to start stocking up at long last. Can someone please recommend the best basic clothes in terms of vests and babygros? I'm not particularly driven by cost, but would like to stock up on some good quality / comfy/ convenient vests and baby gros in white / neutral as we don't know what we're having.

Thanks!

'Envelope' style vests can pulled down the body rather than over the head - very useful if there has been a poo explosion!

Ok, envelope style necks.

Due early April, but will be induced mid-March. So weather could be anything from heatwave to snow going by the last couple of years!

Think I'll buy a 7 pack of white vests and sleep suits in both newborn and 0-3 then send Mr B on a shopping trip after birth. Think that would be enough to get us through the first couple of days?

If you are going to be induced two weeks early there is a high chance you might actually need tiny baby (7lb size) rather than newborn (up to 9 or 10 lb size) I got a pack of M&S small newborn size (up to 7.5lb) and even with a full term 8lb baby, they were the perfect size for the first week. Perhaps just three vests and babygrows in a small size and then if you have a six pounder you can always send someone to the supermarket for a few more?

Ah, but the reason I'm being induced early is because I'm type 1 diabetic, which give me a propensity for a slightly larger baby... DH and I are also both tall, so I would wonder about length.

Perhaps I could just stock up on three of each of tiny, newborn and 0-3 then donate what I don't use to charity and send Mr B off shopping to stock up? (am I wrong to think that is a disaster in the making right there?).

OR, maybe I buy all the sizes x 7 or 9 or whatever the week before my induction, then just have Mr B return the ones we don't need, swapping them for appropriate colours? Confused

Honestly, I'd go for tesco or other supermarket brand and get some 'newborn' ones as they'll be cheaper.

In plain white theres little difference between mothercare and boots and the cheapies ( dont go for Primark though) and it's nice to have a few that will fit, even for a couple of weeks rather than buying more expensive ones in 0-3 months that will dangle off your newborns legs just to get your money's worth.

I found Next good for my long baby (seem to have longer legged babygros) and m&s wash well. Mothercare also nice.

Also maybe our poo not that explosive but if it leaked I just pulled dd's arms out and pulled it down her body. There was always enough give to do this.

But I hate bodysuits that go over head and do up between legs. Only front opening ever worked for me.

Sainsbury better than next etc.

I think Next are best for babygros and vests. All their sleep suits have fold over hand mittens, they are soft comfortable and good quality and washed well.

I didn't know the thing about envelope shoulders on vests BitBewildered and I'm pregnant with DC3 Blush I just used to smear poo over their head!
