I have a prolapsed disc and am due the end of August? Has anyone got any helpful tips or suggestions for keeping healthy with a problem back?

ice packs and get some physio.

Were you put on an exercise regime in physio?

I had physio when I had prolapse but not pg. It worked fine. Sorry to hear you have this and pg must be unbearable. They usually have someone who specialises in pg physio don't they at the hospital?

I could hardly walk and within 2 months all that was left was a limp which took another 12 months to go. Now I just have a numb foot. So can't wear mules - they slip off and I don't notice!

YES!!! This sounds exactly like me! I am ok now but don't see how I will manage the bump pain...

I think I am on a physio waiting list but it takes months to come through. I thought I should try to be proactive now before I injure myself.

No phone the midwives, they might be able to rush you an appointment! Or do what I did after waiting 10 months for app the first time my back was really bad. I phoned the hosp physio department and miracles of miracles I was next on the list!

You do know you won't be allowed an epidural don't you? At least I wasn't. Even for emergency cs. was told I would have a general aneastheic if cs needed Shock

My hospital offered appointments with aneasthetist consultant if you had back problems when 8 months...

Ah no didn't know this....

Thanks for the info. Don't have a number for midwife but will phone the physio unit I went to before.

good luck with getting some help. sympathies for you, must be 10 times worse when pg. Luckily pg seems to agree with me and I was pain free (back wise) through both of mine!

Thanks Cece!
