Don't worry to much if you ring your gp later they will do a blood test to check if you have any antibodies. i think its more worrying in the first trimester. Could try ring nhs direct i always find them very helpful.Smilehope your dd better soon

the other time its dangerous to the babe is just before birth - although that doesn't apply to you either!

HOWEVER chickenpox in adults should always be monitored as it is worse for adults than children. You should always see your Doc if you get chickenpox as an adult. Apparently 1 case in 100 leads to pneumonia, and MUCH MUCH rarer swelling of the brain in adults.

The reason I know all this is 2 weeks ago DS and DH had chickenpox, and I'm now off work taking care of DD, also with chickenpox!

Good luck, and speak to NHS direct/your Dr.

Agalch - it might be worth going to see the doctor anyway to highlight the problem. I am not immune and my nephew and neice got chicken pox when I was less then 20 weeks (and I had close contact with them before spots came out). Up to 20 wks and just before the birth are the danger times. The doctor was great, I went to see him as soon as my nephew's spots appeared. He arranged a blood test to check that I was not immune then had to arrange for me to have an injection of antibodies to try and stop me getting it. Thankfully, I didn't get it. I am currently trying to avoid any child with chickenpox symptoms again, as I am pregnant with number 2 and number one hasn't had it yet!
Here's hoping you don't get it and you are over 20 weeks so that is also encouraging.
