DS kicked my bump. Babies are well padded in there, aren't they?

It was a total accident, but it was quite hard. Not enough to hurt me, but enough to make me worried.

I got back pain shortly after. (This is nothing new, but it was sharper than it's been before). This was about 2 hours ago.

I can feel the baby moving about now.

It's fine, isn't it? They're well padded in there, aren't they?

babies are very well padded, but I would worry too. I'm a worrier...... I think if baby's movements are OK, you feel OK, there is no pain or bleeding then not to worry. But you could call your midwife or hospital maternity triage for advice. If you are rhesus negative though I would definitely get to hospital for anti D just in case though.

Dd did a seat drop onto my stomach when I was pg with ds Shock and there was no harm done

aufaniae · 15/10/2012 23:17

Thanks for the reply.

It was exactly where the baby is. That's what worried me. I hope it's all OK.

I'm not rhesus negative, I don't think? I'd know, right?

Ooh, Nishky, that must have been worrying. Thanks for the reassurance :)

I was petrified, at the time it was too early to feel regular movements ( I think that I was about 16 weeks) I went to midwife unit on way to work the next day and they let me listen to the heart beat

aufaniae · 15/10/2012 23:29

It's too early for me to feel regular movements too, I'm only at 14 weeks. (It's my second, I've felt them much earlier this time).

Maybe I should talk to the midwives tomorrow.

I am a great believer in putting your mind at rest! The midwives had no problem with me calling in and said they would rather do that than have a worried mum to be! I would definitely contact them in the morning

I'm sure it will be fine, but talk to your midwife to put your mind at rest.

aufaniae · 15/10/2012 23:33

Thanks everyone :)

I will give them a call in the morning.

Hope you got on ok? I fell down the stairs when about 5/6 months pregnant with DS and landed on my side. I am rhesus negative (you would have been told by now if you were) & they advised that any sign of bleeding they would want to scan me but in the end just listened to the heartbeat and all has been fine. This time around DS has booted me in the belly on a few occasions to the point I have had bruises but have always relied on baby having plenty of padding and still feeling movements.

My mate was heavily pregnant at a family BBQ and went to push open a patio door to go into the garden, which had a big slope down to where we were all sitting. She hadn't realised the door was actually already open so she was pushing thin air and she flopped right onto her tummy and skidded down the slope on her bump. We were all terrified but after a quick trip to the hospital to check her out she was given the all clear. Remarkable really!
