Just been doing some gardening, seem to have lots of energy lately, but a bit hard to bend now.

What are you ladies, who are around 38 weeks up to and how are you feeling?

Sastra · 11/10/2012 10:13

Yes to swelling. I don't think I look that different, but my fingers and toes are really sore to bend. I have no grip at all!

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 11/10/2012 10:43

38+5 here with DC2. I'm trying to make the house look less like a tip in preparation for an engineer coming over to fix some dodgy window frames. DH is decorating the baby's room so there is stuff everywhere. How do people manage without a spare room?!

The baby's head was engaged when I saw the MW last week and again today. Bits are rather swollen but that's infinitely preferable to when the baby was breech and feeling as though it was digging its toes into my cervix. I'm not too uncomfortable or fed up so not fussed about the baby arriving yet - we need to finish decorating first!

MsElisaDay · 11/10/2012 17:34

Not quite 38 weeks, but 37+4 - is that close enough?
I'm grumpy! My back hurts, I'm tired and I can't WAIT to finish work. It's such a struggle to keep going each day, and the (albeit short) commute is a nightmare.
I just want to be on maternity leave now and able to get some rest. I also feel like there's so much to do before the baby arrives, and I haven't been able to get going with any of it because, whenever I'm not at work, all I want to do is sleep.
Really struggling now and don't know how I'm going to cope with another two-and-a-bit weeks of being pregnant - let alone if it ends up being another three or four weeks.
Argh!

Sastra · 11/10/2012 18:05

Fair play for still being at work. I'd be suicidal if I had to commute now.

Doodlekitty · 11/10/2012 20:03

I could sit and cry tonight. So uncomfortable, feel horrifically sick and just so down in the dumps. I slept all afternoon having not slept last night which probably means a sleepless night tonight. Proper moany mood.

RunningKatie · 11/10/2012 21:10

Saw the midwife today, baby is 3/5 engaged so that's a start, although she panicked me again by being unsure whether it's breech or not. It's all very well this baby having a shapely bum but I could do without the worry.

DH's parents came today to help out with DD, which meant I didn't get my afternoon nap so early to bed for me tonight. It's a rock & roll lifestyle we're all leading at the moment isn't it?!

mummy2benji · 11/10/2012 21:14

hugs doodlekitty I can empathise - feeling really uncomfortable today too. Bump feels really achey and I'm struggling to sleep at night too. Can't get comfortable, have to get up to take extra gaviscon for the heartburn, and having dreams about labour and giving birth every night - anyone else having these?! It's not like I don't know what to expect as I've done it before - don't recall having this many dreams last time though.

I think we all get more hormonal in the last couple of weeks before D Day and it's only natural to get fed up and feel a bit down. It's easy to feel daunted when we know it isn't going to be too long now (but equally it feels like forever!) Hope you manage to sleep tonight and feel a bit better tomorrow - I recommend a nice mug of cocoa before bed Brew :) x

Sastra · 11/10/2012 23:33

Poor doodlekitty Sad those days are horrid. Thinking of you!

I saw my mum earlier who took one look at me and said "there's no way that baby's ready to be born". I was pretty sure that she's not engaged but this was not what I needed to hear! I need to snap out of it, I'm still two weeks from due date FGS. It could be (gulp) 4 weeks yet!

sammyleh · 12/10/2012 08:58

Big hugs Doodlekitty Hope you managed to get some sleep last night.
Today is my last day at work! So ready for it now. How are you all feeling today? xx

Sastra · 12/10/2012 09:03

Hurray for your last day of work! I hope you've got some serious relaxing planned!

horseylady · 12/10/2012 09:21

37 weeks!! Last day at work today!!

Then need to do lots of cleaning at home and sorting!!

Assume the next few weeks will be like the ttw lots of symptom spotting!!

sammyleh · 12/10/2012 09:24

Oh yes, symptom spotting like its going out of fashion. Driving me mental.
Lots of relaxing planned Sastra Lots of films in, lots of hot chocolate and big fluffy cushions... with a bit of cleaning thrown in for good measure Smile

Stumbleine · 12/10/2012 09:28

Morning all. Hope you managed to get some sleep last night Doodlekitty. Looks like ds is trying to get me in training for the new arrival, he kept me up for hours last night complaining of a tummy ache. Fine this morning thankfully.

I think week 38 is a toughie, knowing that it could be any day but that it could equally be a whole month away! Messes with your head.

AbbyRue · 12/10/2012 10:22

I'm struggling today emotionally Sad

38 + 1 but want to get this over with. I'm still going to Uni which is 40 mins away from home (but there's a hospital 5 mins from uni). I'm not sure if I should stop going now but then again it could be 4 weeks before DC3 arrives.

I hate this "any day now" business too Sad

sammyleh · 12/10/2012 10:40

Ooh Abby that sounds hellish, 40 mins is a long way to go at 38wks, can't uni do anything for you with regards to working from home? email you seminar and lecture work? Might be worth asking if you haven't already xx

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 12/10/2012 10:41

Bah, had a growth scan today and baby has disengaged itself. DH will be pleased!

I was getting nausea, backpain, lots of BHs and a sore bump yesterday so I wondered if something was happening but today is back to normal. There was no question of DC1 being allowed to arrive in his own sweet time so I've never been this pregnant or had to symptom-spot before. It's very strange! I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and still enjoying maternity leave with plenty of time to myself so in no rush but false alarms are nerve-jangling.

AbbyRue · 12/10/2012 11:15

Thanks Sam. I don't have to go as I can access everything online. It's 2 days a week anyway with Thursday being the longest at 9-6!! I just go so that I'm not bored at home.

I'm moaning a lot today I think. DH has quietly left for the office, he had said he would be working from home Grin

Ah well, I blame the hormones Smile

Doodlekitty · 12/10/2012 11:29

Thanks guys. I actually slept brilliantly last night (well, comparatively). Was at midwife today and he is 2/5 engages (but was 3/5 two weeks ago do he must have slipped out a bit). Have decided I really dislike my midwife, she's such a faff and does not listen to me. My BP was a touch high, but nothing to worry about apparently. But she insisted on trying a bigger cuff due to my high bmi. I do have a high bmi but have put on very little weight which is all on my bump (consultant is over the moon with me!) and have never needed a larger cuff before.

snowchick1977 · 12/10/2012 11:34

Glad everyone is ok.

Im 38+2 and feel really good. I seem to have bags of energy still, I do not know where it has come from but I dont even feel pregnant, its very odd.

Just about to get into the loft for some bits and bobs.

Hoping baby comes this weekend now x x

TheBotanist · 12/10/2012 11:47

Hello everyone, 39+5 here with 1st baby.
Have had irregular BH's/contractions mostly during the night for past 2 nights, tired and just want baby to come out now!
Saw MW yesterday and she was encouraging, but also booked me another appointment in a week for 'the induction chat' (as she put it).
Agree with Abby upthread - hate the 'any day now' feeling...

Doodlekitty · 13/10/2012 08:07

Today is going to be a different day! Got to get this house sorted so it's housework day. Have got a list and divided it into jobs for me and jobs for DH, let's see how that goes.
Been up half the night with period type cramps, don't think it's anything exciting bit it's given me a kick up the arse. How are you, ladies?

Stumbleine · 13/10/2012 08:13

Good morning ladies!

Doodle 2/5 is actually more engaged than 3/5, it means that only 2/5 of the head can be felt out of the so good news Smile

Had yet another awful night's sleep. Went up to bed at 8 as I was so knackered but only managed a couple of 2-3 hour stretches as ds was in with me with tummy pains again!

Stumbleine · 13/10/2012 08:14

Out of the pelvis that should say.

elvislives2012 · 13/10/2012 08:50

Hi all. 39+2 now. Every twinge gets me thinking is this it! Symptom and knicker checking worse than in the 1st TM! Uncomfortable and feeling sick. Moan moan moan!

Sastra · 13/10/2012 08:59

I bet in a few weeks when they're all here we'll look back and laugh at ourselves Smile

I saw the midwife yesterday who said I'm 4/5ths engaged, which us great as I didn't think she was even low at all! She also sympathised with how "full up" I am, which made me feel better! I then had a mini met down worrying I was going to have a monster sized baby (DH was over 9lbs), but she said DD is likely to be completely average. So she's managed to dampen down my craziness. For now.
