cost of NCT classes

I'm keen to attend NCT classes to meet some local mums. Last time I attended the hospital classes which were fine but we came from all over the place and no one kept in touch. The NCT locally has suggested classes with the North London Antenatal Teachers, claiming they are not running any classes in April/May in the area. They say this is the same thing but you pay the teachers direct rather than the NCT.

The cost for 5 mornings (3 hour sessions) is £110 or £160 for a couple. This seems a lot to me. Is it a standard amount?

That sounds about right. In the NCT branch I belong to (although I didn't have NCT antenatal classes) I think its about that. It includes membership of the NCT as well (£36) although I'm not sure whether the price for yours would or not.

we paid about that much for NCT classes in north london (Stoke Newington). Can't remember the exact amount.

Fairyglo - I did NCT both times and did establish a nice network of people to keep me company but for various reasons have now lost touch. It might be worth finding out whether your local NCT does coffee mornings for the pg and mums with new borns - not as "bonding" as having classes together but an altogether cheaper way of meeting people - and more effective than the music class type route where people don;t actually talk to each other (well. not much, anyway)

ok, thanks. I was just a bit shocked (and skint!). Can't remember the situation last time with the hospital but think it was free so maybe was influenced by that :)

That's a good idea about the coffee mornings although I have to say with my first baby I found it all quite stressful and liked the fact that the music classes made me feel I was doing something for the baby without having to talk to anyone :o. Hopefully this time I will be more relaxed.

fairyglo-the NCT may take your circumstances into account.
My NCT yearly membership is only £1 as i am on low income,so hope they can help you out with classes
