Can anyone recommend a good book for a father to be?

DP is keen to read a book about impending labour/pregnancy etc. Turns out he knows bobbins about this stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions of a good one? :)

My dh has been reading "pregnancy for blokes" which i have to admit i also read myself and was really good!

Yes, mine read Pregnancy for Blokes too. It's a very good informative book and I enjoyed it, but he found it a bit laddy. He is currently reading Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth and has read Gina Ford as well, so he's being quite thorough.

It's worth reading about what to do once the baby arrives, I know I am absorbed in pregnancy and labour books, he keeps reminding me I should be worried about the next 18 years as well!

i would be interested to hear this too. all the ones he has looked at have been a bit "you are going to give up drinking with your mates to have a baby" kind of thing which he has found off putting as it's not what he's like at all.

I do know he found it difficult to find books that weren't blokey bloke ones which talked about football etc.

One that is supposed to be a blokes one (but I read it and really enjoyed) is from here to paternity by Andrew Cullen. It isn't ladish but isn't all facts and figures either so it depends what sort of book you're after.

Not a book about pregnancy and labour but my MIL bought DH 'Commando Dad' which he has really enjoyed. All practical stuff from birth to 3 years. It sounds very macho but it's honestly not, actually quite funny (i've found it useful too as I was a little clueless!)

dont bother with the blokes pregnancy for dummies. its shit. for a start its hardly about pregnancy at all and the person writing it gave DH no info of any use apart from some scare mongering and it really got on my tits.
