what are you eating if your tummy is delicate?

I need some inspiration on easy to digest food, I'm getting very bored with my limited diet. I'm only 7 weeks but my tummy can't really take many foods. It's not heartburn, just sharp pain in my stomach. Even melon this morning made my tummy hurt a lot.

So far I've got toast, peanut butter, ripe pears (peeled) and live yoghurt, sweet potatoes, courgettes, mushrooms, rice, plain chicken and cream crackers. Baked beans in moderation seem to be ok as well. I'm drinking peppermint tea.

I don't want it to get like my last pg where I could only face apples and hula hoops!

So what are you eating that's easy to stomach?

That's way healthier than what I ate during "morning" sickness, but then most everything turned my stomach! Cereal, bananas, plain yoghurt and bread was what I did - I couldn't smell/ look at veg or meat for months. Acidic fruit came right back up and to this day if I eat apples at the wrong time they come up...

know what you mean about acidic fruit, normally I'd eat loads but it's out of the question atm!

Actually bananas might be ok, will get some of those, thanks!

I honestly do not know how we grow a baby without eating any meat or veg, but DD seems to be healthy on her prenatal diet of apples and hula hoops!

oatcakes and porridge are good

dontcarehow · 21/09/2012 09:42

I'll second porridge, you can have it sweet or savoury! crumpets were good for me, and flapjacks. As long as you're taking vitamins you should be fine, honestly I was told your hair could be falling out from malnutrition and your baby would still be ok, because anything good that you do have goes straight to them.

I actually found I could manage fish even though I'm not normally keen (as long as I didn't have to cook it). Other than that it was white toast and salt and vinegar Walkers all the way! I think you're doing really well if you can manage the things on your list and anyway it's not forever. Make sure you take a prenatal vitamin too.

Along with my very bland diet of cracker bread, potatoe, fish cakes, bananas, rich tea biscuits, plain crisps ... I have just started having 2 ensure plus nutritional shakes per day... And they are so satisfying I'm feeling much better. I bought them online and they are expensive so I'm going to see if I can get them on perscription. I have lost a stone due to hyperemsis and am only 10 weeks pregnant .. Praying for the day when I wake up and the sickness has magically disappeared.
I have found lucozade really helpful too.

Am not pregnant now, but when I was, I just got down whatever would stay. Plenty of soda, chocolate & crisps.

Had one pregnancy where I couldn't handle garlic at all (even ketchup was out). Next pregnancy humus (plenty of garlic) was one of the few foods I could tolerate. .

Mashed potato and pretzels. And antacids. Lots of those :o

mrsbugsywugsy · 21/09/2012 12:44

I ate lots of:

Plain rice sprinkled with soya sauce
mashed potatoes
toast with marmite
rice cakes
miso soup

Ate about zero fruit, veg or protein for the first 12 weeks but made sure I took my vitamins and the baby has been fine at all of the scans.

thanks everyone! lljkk I had a pg where I couldn't stand garlic, not even the smell of it, it was a nightmare, about 95% of people have the smell of stale garlic coming out of them, I couldn't smell that normally, but during that pg, I was like a living garlic sensor, I could smell it on people at 20 paces! I am praying that this pg isn't the same.

Yes, taking the pregnacare, sure the bean will be ok, but just getting bored of eating plain food, I'm normally a fan of strong flavours and curries. Still, like you say, it's only for a few months.

Not sure what ensure is, but it's given me inspiration for a smoothie with bananas and ground almonds. Yum!
