Feeling sick and achey at almost 38 weeks

Hi all

Some braxton hicks woke me up at about 6am and I've been feeling sick and feverish since then with a bit of a cold, slight upset stomach, achey legs and temerature (like I'm generally ill)

So as not to drip feed, I was in hosp on Weds with a suspected mini stroke or pre eclampsia but it turned out to be a pregnancy related migraine - never had one before. Spent hours in A&E then went on to maternity assessment unit at different hosp for baby to be checked, all OK.

Thought I might have been in labour to start with this morning as just didn't feel 'right' and the shooty low down (apparently normal engaging pains) I've been getting have got a bit worse. Was scared to get out of bed in case waters broke - but obviously they didn't!

Just wondering if I should be worried or just relaxing/making the most of being able to lay on sofa? Have MW check this pm because of being in hosp Weds, so will mention then but sure I'll just get told to take paracetemol!

TIA :)

Oh love that sounds awful and very stressful. I don't really have any proper advice other than to relax, rest up, sleep, eat and drink if you can and speak to the MW this afternoon at your appointment. If you feel much worse, I would be inclined to call again - it's so hard to know what to do.

If it helps, I had what can only be described as food poisoning once a month for about five hours - sick, feverish, blinding headache, shaking, vomiting so violently I burst blood vessels in my face and pulled muscles in my back - I would literally chug water and bring it back up cold, I was being sick that often. Then it would just stop! MW reckoned it was my body's reaction to not having a period each month.

These things can be very scary so do just relax if you can - you're not well, tuck yourself up in bed and don't be afraid to call the mw ahead of your appointment!
