I have done 3 Boots early tests, each time a faint cross line has come up to indicate pregnancy. However I keep worrying this is a false positive or evaporation line as it is faint. (After 3 MCs I am a bit paranoid about it now!)AF due on Saturday.

What do you think and which tests do you think are most reliable?

People always recommend the superdrug own ones, but I haven't had need to use one myself yet.
Goo luck OP, fingers crossed for you Smile

I went with the clear blue digital ones, although I know they are expensive. I can't complain in that it dated me correctly within a day of my missed period. However, that is the one and only pregnancy test I have ever taken, so don't have much to compare it to!

Rockchick1984 · 20/09/2012 10:04

I used cheapy ones that were 2 for £1 - very easy to read and foolproof!

Flisspaps · 20/09/2012 10:05

10 for £1 from eBay were both very reliable for me - +VE result the day my period was due.

Flisspaps · 20/09/2012 10:06

I've heard false positives are almost impossible to get though, 3 in a row would surely be unheard of?

fertilityFTW · 20/09/2012 10:09

Same here - false positives most unlikely - also, evap lines are grey, are your faint lines coloured? There may be congratulations in order OP....

carrielou2007 · 20/09/2012 10:10

I've heard people who have them in their pound shop, we don't have any in ours but found another shop that does and yes they are a pound for two!!

I was not sure when I was due as AF varies from wed -sat I tested after getting back from afternoon school run fri got BFP. Being on the mini pill I then tested every day for the following four days as was in complete shock Blush

3rdbump · 20/09/2012 10:35

I used the tesco own ones - 2 for less than £4. In the past i also used sainsburys own brand. :)

juneau · 20/09/2012 10:56

You can't get a false positive, whichever test you use, since all tests measure the amount of pregnancy hormone in your urine. If it ain't there, they aren't positive. You can, however, get a false negative as there has to be a certain amount of HCG for the test to come up positive, and this can take a while for some women.

MiggleMoo · 20/09/2012 11:52

the test is boots own brand early indicator test and the line is definately blue... are evap lines grey then?

I've heard (and found myself) that the cross ones are worse for evap lines than the two lines one - and that pink ink is more accurate than blue. Personally I've found the cheapy internet ones to be the most accurate and earliest (though have never tried the digitals).

I'd be trying a different test but if you're getting a cross within the time and both lines are blue... well I'd say it's positive!

Secondsop · 20/09/2012 12:11

I've found First Response to be very good, and abundantly clear. But as others have said, if you've got a cross that's actually coloured as opposed to being pale greyish / slightly different texture / visible only at certain angles, that's a positive test not an evap line. There's often SOMETHING visible where the test line is, as there is a line of chemicals there that react to the moisture in the wee. The key thing is whether the test colour (i.e. the blue or pink) is visible.

PipIsOutNow · 20/09/2012 14:09

First response is fantastic another vote here...really clear to read and picked up positive 2 days before AF was due. Congrats OP!!

Marmiteisyummy · 20/09/2012 14:43

First response early response. Always my confirmatory test. I didn't believe it til I saw it on an FRER.
Having said that I think it's fairly safe to say you're pregnant! Congratulations OP!!

MiggleMoo · 20/09/2012 16:21

Well I just did a FRER and considering I am still 2 days off AF it was a pretty dark second line for BPF! Maybe thats means the blue dye tests aren't wuite as inaccurate as i thought! :-)

Secondsop · 20/09/2012 16:36

MiggleMoo · 20/09/2012 16:39

Thank you Thanks - now I just have to worry about it sticking!! (Silently muttering prayers to myself for a sticky, sticky baby!!)

Congrats :)

Cheap Superdrugs picked mine up way before AF was due - about 10 DPO faintly, clear as bell by 11/12 DPO :)
