pregnant, fibroids, and looking for a gynaecologist

Dear All,

I am new to this website, so apologies if I am posting and requestion help on something that others have already discussed extensively. But. I am in my fourth month, just started, and I have 4 fibroids, 5 or less cm large. I can feel them when I lie down, and I have this general feeling of them being there during the rest of the day. This is my first pregnancy. I was not so much into children before (I am 37), but now that I am pregnant I am getting quite attached to this new company, and I am hoping to be able to meet him soon, rather than having to say goodbye to him because of these stupid masses. I do not have a gynaecologist in London, where I live, and I am getting a bit upset and stressed reading about fibroids on the net. I would therefore like to find one, where I can go when I am stressed or to get an additional scan, but I do not want to pick the first one I see on the internet.
Anyone in my situation in London who can recomment a good gynaecologist? I am not worried about paying nor about traveling to go to a clinic.

Thank you!!!!!

Can't you speak to your GP? I'm 39, first pregnancy and they picked up a fibroid on my 12 week scan (just one). They didn't seem at all worried but referred me to a consultant, just in case. I haven't heard from him, so he doesn't seem worried at all either.
Obviously having 4 may be a bit more worrying - but you should start with your GP, I think. Ask him / her if they will refer you, or at the very least explain any issues regarding your fibroids.

Yes, that's a good idea, thanks. I thought I could speed up things and go directly to an expert, rather than having to wait days for the GP appointment and then days for the specialist appointment.

Years ago, I saw a lovely gynae called Mr O'Louca. He was based at Northwick Park (in Harrow).

Long story short, I needed investigation which was done at the ACAD centre in Park Royal. Amazing facility. If I was in London and needed a gynae again, I would try to go to one of those two places (the ACAD is more for diagnostics & day surgery I believe, whereas NP is a 'proper' hospital).
