18+6, am I being a bit over analytical?

I've only really been feeling the baby move for about 10 days, but today I haven't felt it move at all, I think. I'm still in the "was it or wasn't it?" phase with some movements / feelings, but they have been getting progressively stronger over the past week. But today, I don't think I've felt anything. I'm sat here with a big bottle of cold water, will guzzle that down now, and I know the advice on here is usually if movement slows, to call midwife - but isn't it a bit too early to be setting so much store by what is, in reality, just a little bit of movement (or lack of it)?

I was touching 20 weeks before I felt proper regular movements and like you I was really unsure as to what was a kick and what was just a huge bit of wind bubbling. It doesn't harm to call the midwife if you're worrying but personally, I had days before I was really certain where I didn't feel much at all xx

Hi stow
As time goes on you'll get used to your baby's individual movements. My Lo tends to have 4 active days then 2 quite days (I'm 32 weeks). At 18 weeks there's still a fair bit of room for him/her to hide so sure it's nothing to worry about. However always better to get checked/have a chat to midwife if it's playing on your mind - no one wants a worried mum :)

sorry to hear your in abit of bother,

I'm 18+3 with my 2dc, I only really feel baby move when I'm lead down so maybe try lying on your back for a little while, may help, if your still worried I would ring mw, it's better to be safe than sorry and the mw will see it the same :) it's not good for you to be stressing :)

We must be due at similar times!!!

Try not to worry (I know that's not possible...) -at this stage, the baby is still so small that if he/she moves somewhere else (and they have plenty of space) you might not feel him/her at all. You can go for days without feeling movement, and it's totally fine.

I only started getting regular movements around week 26-27. Before that, there were days with little. They recommend that you start paying attention to movements/counting kicks after week 28. Before that, movements are too erratic, and counting can cause undue stress and worry.

I'm 19 weeks and I have started to feel the baby but not all the time and not everyday.

The baby could always just be kicking at it's placenta, when I went for a gender scan last week the baby was tucked up right beside it.

Please let us know what the MW says if you contact them because I would be interested in the answer myself.

I hope the little one starts wriggling around any minute!

Thanks everyone, all your responses were very reassuring! The little bugger just woke up, so am starting to relax now. I'm not usually such a worrier and have been pretty blase about this pregnancy. I guess it gets to us all in the end!!!
