Clean my car today at 36 weeks pregnant?

Got new 2nd hand car for when baby comes, parked in allocated bays near my house under some trees and car got covered in an unbelieveable amount of bird poo - I mean the windshield was totally covered!

Washed majority off so I could drive it and am having a 'bored on maternity leave day', so should I clean? Unlikely to start anything off I imagine? Also, bird poo OK as long as I thoroughly wash hands after??

Also, no 'stuff' so what should I clean it with - washing up liquid?? :)

No reason not to if you feel up to it. I have a similar problem with my car, my poor DH has ended up cleaning it recently as I can reach the middle of the windscreen :)

I'd use hot water and washing up liquid or something similar (not sure if you can use all purpose cleaner of anything) A small tip - for the really stuck on stuff I use an ice scrapper for frost to scrape it off. Gross but it works :)

Cheers Sparkle think I will brave it (my bump may not allow me full access to winshield either) Been on mat leave 2 weeks and have had plans every day but today none, so the car gets it!

Will people get pissed off if I take my hosepipe out there to rinse car off after?? It's parked outside house on cul de sac road?

Hosepipe should be fine as long as the weather isn't too cold (would turn the cul de sac into an ice rink) :)

Wouldn't advise washing up liquid - not good for car paintwork

beckslovestimmy · 17/09/2012 12:22

I second POLEDRA. Should never use washing up liquid on car paintwork. :)

I would take it To a car wash unless you have no trouble reaching with your bump. By the time you have bought some car shampoo you could've taken it through a wash but not sure how effective they are at getting off bird crap.

I second the idea of a drive through car wash.
Washing a car is a big effort at the best of times, never mind with a bump! Smile
Agree about not using washing up liquid. It'll cost you the same for a bottle of decent car shampoo as it will to get it washed!

Finished! Sadly, Didn't see this about not using washing up liquid till now, so deed has already been done but thanks for the tip for next time.

Also, kind of wanted to do it myself as going slightly crazy with boredom today (anyone else? - soooooo fed up with daytime TV and my new Stephen King, though good, just not keeping me entertained!)

Only slight problem was that I had to drag the hosepipe through the house from the back tap and when I switched it on the water was so powerful it lifted the hose and sprayed it back into my hallway - oops!

On the pregnancy side, feeling a bit twingy now but have been anyway but god it felt good doing something physical/practical :)
