Have got a mouth full of ulcers at the moment and am in agony. I suffer from ulcers anyway, however usually take lots of things for them but most of the stuff I use says not recommended during pregnancy. Anyone got any advice. Feel so miserable!!

I used to use corsodyl mouthwash and it really calmed ulcers down BUT I don't know if it's ok in pregnancy (I hope so 'cos I've used it a couple of times in the last few weeks! Blush)
Have you tried asking the pharmacist? The one in Boots near us is really helpful.

hope you find something soon.

Had ulcers in early pregnancy (before 12 weeks I think) and went to the NHS Direct place and spoke to a nurse. As far as I remember, it was ok to use bonjela type stuff, but you could always check with pharmacists. Also you could try rinsing your mouth out with warm salty water (tastes disgusting but does soothe).

Hope this helps.

My dr said none of the mouth ulcer medicines are safe in pregnancy. He told me to gargle with salt water and to eat more fresh fruit and veg. Left the surgery sobbing, but it did help after about a week and I've not had many more since i've had my 5 portions a day.

I used to suffer terribly with mouth ulcers - ever since i was tiny. I found out about 4 years ago that there is an ingredient in most toothpastes called sodium laurel (or laureth) sulphate which i think makes it foam. They also use it in soaps, shampoos etc. Alot of people react to this ingredient by getting mouth ulcers.

SOME of the Sensodyne toothpastes are sls free, also Weleda (i think). You need to check the packaging quite carefully but the one i've been using for a while is Sensodyne Total Care Gentle Whitening which definitely doesn't have SLS as an ingredient. Although i still get the odd ulcer from time to time, they are very rare and when i do get them they go away in a few days instead of a few weeks like they used to.

Good luck.
