Has anyone had the combined Test and found that at over 40yrs their little expected is fine and not gone on to have more tests for down's syndrome?

I will be 40 when my baby comes so my risk was 1:95 before the test, after the combined test the risk was 1:9300 so decided not to have further tests.

I will be 41 at my EDD 4th may 2013. So your odds sound promising? I do know 3 women over 40 who have had perfectly fine babies. It's just scary though.

I have been terrified throughout this pregancy. I have PCOS so thought it would take ages to get pregnant. Decided to get my implant out in February and thought I would just see what happened. 3 months later I fell pregnant. I guess I couldnt believe it and since I had had a MMC years ago i was constantly worried about that. The Doctor arranged an early reassurance scan so I felt better for about 2 days then started worrying about 12 week scan. After that went ok, I started worrying about combined test results. After that worried that I wasnt feeling pregnant. Felt better after consultant appointment at 15 weeks. I then started worrying last week again so went to see nurse at GP on Monday this week so that she could reassure me and let me hear the heartbeat etc. For now I feel positive again but I know that come next week I will start worrying about my next scan whch I am having in 2 weeks by which time I will be 21 weeks. Everyone around me thinks I am worrying too much but I guess I just still cant beleive I have been so lucky to concieve!!

Thank you! Are you having the combined test?

I'm only 18, my boyfriend 25 has a sister with downs so we have a higher risk of having one. I've been pregnant before (baby boy died at 23 weeks) it was scary waiting for the 12 week scan. We decided not to have futher examination at 16weeks because the small chance of mc.

People with downs are the best people youd meet and have the kindest hearts.

Hi we have decided to go for the combined test and yes I have seen that people with down's are the kindest people and If that is the case I would still go ahead with the birth and get the right kind of support as this baby is so wanted and loved even if it is the size of a bean at the moment!!!!

I'm 37 and the midwife told me the odds are usually around 1:150 for my age so I had the bloods done and it has come back at 1:5300, I must admit that it was only after having the results that I have finally started to enjoy the pregnancy, I'm 16 + 2 and spent the first tri worrying about the risks.

According to my hospital consultant, nuchal screening is more accurate if you're older.... As a 40-year old I've taken note
