Is it a good idea? So far im getting all excited about it and it seems a good option. Has anyone else did this? I just thought it would be nice to get all close family and friends together at the one time to celebrate her arrival soon after she is born instead of having people come here then and everywhere. I live with my parents so they are more than happy to do most of the hosting/buffet etc! I thought it would be nice to send out birth announcement cards to the ones invited so its also an invite aswell? What do you guys think?

I think it sounds like a lovely idea, but you will probably still get people popping round at other times.

My SIL did this and I think it's a lovely idea.

You do get a lot of visitors to see a new baby, so it gets it all done on one day.

As long as you've got plenty help mind! My SIL had a CS, so she just sat in a comfortable chair and literally didn't move. Everything was done by others for her.

We had dd christened at 6 weeks, which pretty much worked out as the same thing. It was lovely and people having a date to meet the baby meant they didn't all pile round straight after the birth, which was nice because I really struggled with mastitis and was in huge pain, leaking everywhere. We had a buffet in the church hall. I didn't mind dd having cuddles at 6 weeks but wouldnt have wanted her exposed to loads of people much earlier.
