Gender Dilemma....

We opted to find out the sex of our baby (privately - as our local NHS hospital will not tell you)

I went along at 17 weeks the sonographer thought it was a boy but wanted us to come back in a week later just to confirm as the baby was being a little bit difficult.

So we went back at 18 weeks and saw a different sonographer and she thought it was a girl Confused

So we are going back this weekend for someone else to have yet another look and see what the baby is...

But it's driving me insane with curiosity!

I really don't mind what the baby is, if anything being a boy then a girl it's made me just as excited about whatever they turn out to be.

So logically (or maybe not) I keep thinking that it must be a girl because the baby would have been a week older and easier to see?

Anyone any ideas?

I know it's only a few days until I find out, I just can't stop thinking about it! And it's been lovely to see the little baby so much and we've got tonnes of pictures :D

My dd2 was awkard at my 21week scan, so much so we never found out what we were having, little monkeyGrin
If its any help i have 4 dds and a female feutous has 3 lines, and an absence of testes- i was told these each time by the sonographer and they were right each time apart from dd2 who decided she was going to play hide 'n' seek Grin

I think the second sonographer thought she saw the three lines, but I almost think she didn't want to commit because last week someone had told us the opposite, but at the first appoint the baby was determined to sit like a little Buddha Smile.

Just out of curiosity, if you have to pay for a private scan then need multiple scans to confirm, do you have to pay for each individual one?

InchyInchy · 10/09/2012 13:18

Nope, we've just paid the once.

We went with Babybond (£79), first appointment was great she also checked all the measurements, showed us the brain, heart, kidney's etc and lasted about 30 mins with most of that scanning time. It was lovely she spent ages showing us the baby yawning and sucking it's thumb.

Then the second re-scan appointment I expected something really quick but it was still about 20 minutes where we got to watch the legs properly kicking my bladder and saw the baby sticking it's tongue out.

I can't wait for the next scan, I've had a little bit of a stressful pregnancy after two previous losses and seeing the baby so much when I don't yet have movements has been great.

Best money I've spent in a long time. I would highly recommend babybond!

Yep - assuming my pregnancy continues as normal I'd definitely have a gender scan if one wasn't offered at my local NHS hospital. Far far too impatient to wait lol...

We used Babybond and I was also very happy with them. The sonographer said he could clearly see 2 girls at 16+6 weeks. He told us not to tell the NHS sonographer the sex of the babies. He said professionally he wouldn't want to know so he could scan without being swayed by another sonographer's opinion. We didn't say anything and the NHS sonographer confirmed it is 2 girls. Having a 32 week scan on Thursday and I may ask again as I have had very vivid dreams lately that one is a boy!
