Movement

Hey,
Any advice welcome.

I read all these threads about reduced movement but my problem isn't reduced movement. IMO it hasn't reduced but is consistently less that I would have thought throughout. Not that I know what I should expect as its my first. Everything has always been fine-bp, scans, bloods etc

I'm hoping it's something to do with anterior placenta or baby still being quite small (25 weeks)

What do you guys think? Like I said, its not reduced, just always been less than I guess I expected.

Sorry if I sound a bit clueless.

Your baby will have its own patterns of movement that will start steadying out at around 28-32 weeks. As long as there aren't any sudden changes it doesn't matter whetheryour baby normal kicks 10 times a day or 200. The most active time is usually when you're asleep anyway!

also have anterior placenta never had this with my other 3 pregnancys and i can say from experience that this has significantly reduced how much movement i could feel earlier on in the pregnancy, i had 4d scan at 28 weeks and saw that he was actually moving around loads and it was only his big kicks i was feeling, am 31+3 now and i feel everything now also with your first your stomach muscles are stronger so you will feel less anyway. dont worry bout it i think in your situation its normal and if your real worried call your midwife. x x

with DS (now 4) I don't recall very much movement at all. Whereas with this one, am 36 weeks, there is much much movement. Maybe i'm more wobbly now, maybe he is more active, or maybe i'm just more analytical to it all after 5 miscarriages between the two successful pregnancies. Agree with previous posters, but most importantly if you're worried talk to your midwife or labour ward.

My baby is the same. I have a high back placenta so can't blame it on that. He's never been a big kicker but when I've been for scans he always seems to move but I can't feel it as much. I'm now 30 weeks and I am feeling more movement than I did 5 weeks ago but it's more pushes when I'm lying down or flutterery kicks when I'm sitting and again, its not all the time. Get hardly anything when I'm standing. Mine doesn't seem to have any kind of pattern of awake and sleep time, we'll see if that kicks in during the next couple of weeks.

With my first I felt no movements at all until 23-24 weeks, then for quite a few weeks after that I had to concentrate really hard to feel any movements at all. Even second time round I felt nothing before 20-21 weeks. Don't worry Smile

Thank you all for your replies. I'm doing my best not to fret. It's so hard with it being my first so not sure of 'normal' and added to that, we tried for so long before going for IVF that im just desperate for everything to be ok.

At what point should I be expecting DH to be able to feel anything? There have been a couple of times where ivethiught you can feel something from the outside but by the time DH gets over to feel he says he can't feel anything. Just really want him to be a part of all this.

DH couldn't feel anything until about 27 weeks this time.

I didn't feel anything until very late, 23 weeks or so. I still (35 weeks) have days where he moves very little. All scans have been fine so I try not to worry. You'll soon notice positions where he is bound to react, eg if you squash him a bit by bending forward he tends to protest. So your partner can be ready then to feel!
