Ok so posted here 2 wks ago when I found out baby was back to back, since then following advise from woman on here I have been using the birthing ball etc to try and get baby to move around but no luck!!

Just wondering if anyone has any other advise on what I can do to get baby to move into correct position. I've looked at various websites, saying use birthing ball, go on all fours etc
So any advise is welcomed, as I've read that baby being back to back is the reason why I'm overdue as baby not not correct position so probably hadn't engaged fully yet.

Yes all fours etc is advised. I had a back to back baby - and I just rubbed my tummy and told them to turn around, and low and behold they did. Sorry of that sounds stupid.

Try swimming (on your front obviously!). It gives the baby maximum room to move round.

As I understand it though, the baby is more likely to turn in early labour than beforehand, so it's important that if you do go into labour, you keep yourself in forward leaning positions like on all fours, leaning over birth ball. Also the polar bear position is meant to be really effective. Shown here : birthbliss.wordpress.com/2011/05/03/yoga-postures-for-labour-and-birth/.

Oh, and good luck!!

My baby was back to back, I didn't know untill I was in labour and the midwife felt her head! She didn't turn & they couldnt turn her but the threat of forceps made me get her out! It really wasn't as bad as I would have imagined it to be had I have known!

Good luck!

My first was posterior and turned during labor. The labor was 4 hours long and drug free.

The back pain was truly horrific but as I had nothing to compare it to I just thought that was how it was.

I did hypnobirthing in the lead up which may have helped too.

My DC2 was born back to back, despite having been in a better position right up till around 39 weeks.

I pushed her out myself, just used gas & air and was only pushing for 45 mins :-)

Try to not panic, OP. :)

My DC2 was back to back after spending most of the pregnancy transverse. It wasn't as bad as I had expected and I managed to push all 10lbs of him out with just gas and air. So don't panic if baby doesn't move. Good luck.

In my experience, there is nothing you can do.

Both mine were back to back for the last few weeks of pregnancy, and didn't shift with all the rocking on all fours etc. Both born face-up, both natural labours with no pain relief.

First labour wasn't great, but I think a lot of that was due to the hospital's insistence on continuous monitoring which meant I was flat on my back most of the time. Second time round I insisted on being able to move around and stay more upright, and it was much easier.

As you're labouring the midwife should let you know what's the best way to be positioned as baby descends down the birth canal, in which case your baby will turn as he/she's born. Both my DC were back to backs. Horrendous pain both times. Now I know why my experiences are different to those women who say 'oh I could just do it all over again!' the minute they've given birth. My experience obviously wasn't the typical situation of a straightforward birth.

Google cat stretch and rolled cobra. These are yoga positions which are used in my birthing class. It means your spine rubs on baby and baby doesn't like it so moves.
Have you tried on your knees leaning over the birthing ball?
The hammock effect as noted above is what you are after.
Hope baby turns for you!
