I've posted on here before about not wanting my baby out, about how much i love being pg and have i want to keep it in there forever...

So the baby has clearly heard this and is refusing to budge. What shall i do?

I've tried walking, sex, pineapple, don't know what else to do...

cinnamon tea, spicy food. cleaning the floors on you hands and knees. are all I can think of

good luck

mancmisses · 03/09/2012 13:24

oh I forgot castor oil, raspberry leaf tea, and blowing up balloons

Spuddybean · 03/09/2012 14:56

Thanks. I did hear about blowing up balloons! Just seen the midwife who offered a stretch and sweep and i said no thanks. Everything seems fine and she seemed to think it would be any time soon. So fingers crossed. I have just been to tesco and now have a headache - i'm hot and i don't want to unpack my shopping :( moan moan moan

mancmisses · 03/09/2012 15:10

Aww, why did you refuse the sweep? (sorry im nosey)

I do that everytime I go shopping but that's because I shop for 11 each week lol

BuntyCollocks · 03/09/2012 15:18

In my experience, nothing worked. I tried everything. DS eventually came at exactly 42 weeks, and I went into labour naturally at 41+6.

Spuddybean · 03/09/2012 16:28

i didn't want the sweep just yet, i am hoping it will come when it's ready. Also i hate my midwife! and she is the roughest/worst blood test taker ever so i just couldn't bear her giving me a sweep.

I am having a lay down now and have a stomach ache and the most thumping headache :(

Ah spuddy Sad

Be kind to yourself. Take it easy and plan a nice treat of some sort every day, baby will be here soon no matter what you do now Smile

sparklekitty · 03/09/2012 20:31

My DH thinks if I refuse to feed my rather large baby she might come out :)

On a serious note, I have no suggestions but feel for you. I'm only 37 weeks and want LO out asap (mainly coz the idea of her putting on another 1/2 lbs each week till 40+ weeks scares the life out of me)

Spuddybean · 03/09/2012 21:37

Yes Sparkle i am worried the baby will be a monster! I'm 5ft10 and DP is 6ft2 and we are both 'athletic'. I'm worried for my poor fanjo Shock

So, i've now slept, crawled around on all 4's and had some vigorous nipple stimulation (thanks DP :) ). I've just had a hot bath. I've shaved everywhere. Unpacked and repacked the bag and eaten an entire packet of choc digestives for my dinner.

Where the fuck is my baby!!?

Honestly? With hindsight I would have ignored the old wives tales, because they don't work, and maximised the time I spent napping, resting and reading a good book.

Spuddybean · 04/09/2012 10:20

:( had contractions from 2-8am every 9-15 mins for 30 seconds then they stopped.
bunty i don't want to go to almost 2 weeks over but i don't want intervention.

Sex again later. long walk.

I agree theTerm i will also rest and read today too. I suppose it just comes when it comes. bloody bastarding baby, harrumph

sian05 · 04/09/2012 20:23

I can sympathise. I'm 40 +2 and have absolutely no signs that bubs is coming anytime soon and getting impatient! Midwife said yesterday he/she is not even fully engaged yet Sad She has already booked me in for induction next Fri but hoping something will happen before then!

Have been watching lots of Paralympics to pass time.

Blueaddie · 04/09/2012 21:09

I am in the same boat, sat here waiting to feel like you are having the living shit kicked out of you - AKA labour.

I am so ready to get this show on the road. I am starting to think that this WILL NEVER HAPPEN.....yet I know that it has to one way or another.

I am trying to do the resting stuff but it is hard when there are other kids to look after/be incredibly irritable with!

FFS COME ON BABY!!!!!!!!!

Oh and well done OP on having the energy to put out.....hopping on the good foot and doing the bad thing is THE very last thing I want to do right now!!!!

Spuddybean · 04/09/2012 22:05

Well, we had a vigorous walk, then a sleep and a shag (altho it was pretty rubbish - TMI alert! we started with me on top but i couldn't get the motion and was too heavy, so went from behind and it was quite hard getting the angle right, but we got there in the end with the lights out and lots of dirty talk Blush ) and a jalfrezi with extra chilli flakes for dinner.

I have now been having contractions for an hour and a half, about every 15 mins for 20 seconds. They aren't getting stronger or closer tho.

DP has got all the stuff ready by the front door - i don't think he realises how long this is going to take.

Come on baby push pleeeeeeaaase.

Just throwing in my sympathy/empathy.. now 40+5, started having contractions on due date every 15 mins for about 8 hours and got down to about 12 mins but then all stopped.

Have tried going for a walk of at least a mile each day, daily sex, curry, raspberry leaf tea in an effort to get things going.. however am now thinking perhaps just to rest a bit cos i think I'm just winding myself up more and body is just refusing to co-operate as a result..

Good luck everyone :)

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 05/09/2012 07:44

How you doing spuddy?

fatsamsgrandslam · 05/09/2012 08:03

Hope you're doing ok Spuddy. This sounds familiar! I was booked for induction (BP issues/ at risk of HELLP) last Friday at 40+4. I had a stretch and sweep it 40+1 and think it may have worked as I went into be induced at 4cm dilated with contractions every 7-10cm. I didn't need the gel/pessaries and midwives broke my waters. 3 hrs later DD was born without any drugs or intervention. I've needed induction techniques with both my children, and last time needed the full works - but I had zero contractions before. I really think the fact you're having contractions is a great sign - every contraction is one less you need to have and they all do something to prepare cervix and move baby down. Just keep active, rest when you can and take a couple of brisk walks. Fingers crossed!

Spuddybean · 05/09/2012 09:43

I'm still bastarding here

Had contractions all night every 15 mins till 8am. Getting no stronger or longer. Then, like the morning before, they just stopped. I am getting frustrated and exhausted with all this broken sleep. I am worried by the time the baby really comes i wont have the energy to push.

So now i'm 41wks today. I think i'll call the midwife for a sweep. :(

Agree Jods1, i am just going to forget sex and stuff today, and try to rest. For some reason (because i was i think) i really thought i'd be quick and early.

How are you doing this evening Spuddy?

Spuddybean · 05/09/2012 22:02

really frustrated :( Sorry to moan. But i am getting a real rage on now. I am sitting on my ball and i just want to start pushing til the baby comes out. I have spent the day blobbing around and sleeping and ate a whole packet of biscuits - :(

Thank you for asking tho.

LimeLeafLizard · 06/09/2012 13:03

Sweep followed by sex (well after a few hours!) worked for me. Good luck if you are still around today!

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 06/09/2012 13:08

This was me 5 months ago. And I was unable to take my own advice, but just relax. Go to bed! Sleep while you can! Read a book! I eventually went 16 agonising days overdue and had to be induced anyway. I had 2 or 3 sweeps, the last one the midwife had to pull out of sharpish as she thought she was going to break my waters. Still didn't work. You have my sympathy though, days spent huge and overdue are the longest days you'll ever spend. The following months however will whizz by :)

Spuddybean · 06/09/2012 13:10

still here. 8 days over. Was up with contractions 4-6 mins for 40-60 seconds from 2-5am. Had a show (gooey bloody mucus plug - lovely!). Called the Hospital at 4.45. Then at 5.30 it all stopped. Angry

I am going to see about having a sweep. :(

OP posts:
effingwotsits · 06/09/2012 13:15

If it makes you feel any better, a sweep brought my dd2 on when I thought I'd never experience going into labour myself. (dd1 was induced at 14 days od)

Apparently 10 days overdue is the most effective time to do the sweep and this is when I demanded one as there were no signs. The night I had one, she came.

GOOD LUCK!!

peeriePistoriuslicker · 06/09/2012 13:35

I had a sweep this morning (only 3 days over but raaaargh I want it out!!)
MW said there's nothing happening up there at all- head not engaged, cervix shut up tight, no signs of anything happening :( BAH!! Both my DDs were overdue and inductions and I really, really, really wanted to have this one in my local (lovely, quiet, calm) small unit instead of the big production line mat ward 30+ miles away.
If I go more than 12 days overdue, I can't have it here.
If I have to be induced, I can't have it here.
I had to book an induction date TODAY for the 15th- it was either that or go over to the hospital 30+ miles away for monitoring EVERY DAY that I go over 12 days late.
It's DD1's birthday on the 16th and if we're in that fucking hospital miles away and she's stuck at my mum's she is going to be gutted :(
