When should you pack the hospital bag?

I am 30 weeks and DH is saying that I should pack my hospital bag as it is making him nervous. I am planning to have an elc around 39 weeks (date not booked yet).

Last time I seem to remember that I didn't pack it until really late. Also, if I wash the baby clothes/muslins/etc now, I will need to unpack it and do them again nearer the time.

I was thinking around 35 weeks more appropriate. When are you packing/did you pack yours?

I'm 32 weeks and am just starting to get a few bits and pieces together, putting them aside to start packing properly over the next week or two. One thing I have done though which might help your DH is that I've written out the list of everything I need to pack and put it in clear sight in our living room. My DH knows where it is and is happy that if I went into labour earlier than expected (very unlikely based on DD1!) then he would at least know what he needed to pack for me.

I'm 35 weeks and did mine last weekend but I'm redoing it I think, probably during next week.

My bag has been packed for 2 weeks, it's ready except for glasses/contact lenses, my make up bag and phone charger, all of which I would grab on way out the door. I am having elective section too on 24th Sept.

I washed the clothes etc a good couple of weeks before packing the bag, I can't see what could be wrong with that as long as all items were properly dried to avoid damp - I've got stuff in my cupboards I haven't worn for 9 weeks which would be fine if I took them out now, this is coming from someone who is (apparently!) ocd about the laundry! Pack now, you've nothing to loose. I wish I had as I went into prem labour and it was a real faff ordering stuff through OH. In the end I wrote a list for my friend to buy (hair bands, shower gel, breast pads and the like... but I'm in France where they keep you in min 4 days after giving birth, so maybe this is more important here). My SIL hadn't packed at 35/6 weeks when her mother told her to get the bags packed ASAP as every one of her 5 DC were born a few weeks early! SIL went into labour the following week! Not trying to scare you. Actually, lots of women go into the maternity for check ups etc before D-day (they kept a friend in for example overnight as her bp was high - she was fine and sent home the next day) so an o/n bag that you scoop up ready-to-go is really useful imo.

Thanks, think I am a bit OCD about the washing and also a bit superstitious about digging baby stuff out the loft and washing it. Perhaps I will go with the making a list idea and then DH could do it if necessary.

I'm 32 weeks and I'm doing mine when my boots order arrives on Monday. I don't need any of the stuff in the meantime so might as well do it soon. Also because I have a nagging feeling lately that dc2 will be early.
I will put mostly new baby clothes in the bag and won't be washing them. Dd1 survived Grin

I done mine the morning I went into labour. Didn't take long and I had to wait on DH coming home from work anyway. I was 39+5.

Going to do mine in the next day or so - elective c-section on 25th Sept! xx
