Vivid Dreams

I'm 18 weeks. And weird vivid and un-nerving dreams have started. I'm not enjoying it. I need to have a strong talking to with my subconscious, ordering it to cease and desist immediately.

Anyone else?

I'm having the same! I'm only at 9 weeks, but I've been having the dreams for the past few weeks. Didn't want to go back to sleep after a toilet visit last night as the dream I was having was a bit scary!!

NoComet · 31/08/2012 10:49

I did, it's par for the course I believe.

greenhill · 31/08/2012 10:50

Yes it happened all the time for me. Don't worry though, it just means that you are remembering more of your dreams than you would have done. As long as you remind yourself as soon as soon as you wake up that "it is only a dream, not reality" you should be ok. I had tons of unsettling ones but once I used the above mantra, I could calm down.

Same here - horrible ones. Had Zombie ones, death ones, lost my DCs one. Though am up about 5 times a night to wee or with painful hips so they never last long...

My friend used to have sex dreams all the time lucky cow the, er, increased blood flow is apparently the thing to thank if you're getting adult fun type ones.

Polyethyl · 31/08/2012 11:01

Yes,
Death ones
and adult type dreams - but with the wrong people - which makes me want to scrub my brain clean when I wake to clear the images.

Oh yes, I hadn't thought there could be a downside to adult dreams. You have my sympathy.

Polyethyl · 31/08/2012 13:57

Sex and death. What primeval subjects!

I'm getting sex dreams too! It's quite nice and another excuse to go to bed early and get more sleep time, lol.

Same here, 12 weeks and dreams have been very sexual. Sometimes with DH, sometimes others. I'm not complaining, haha ;)

Apparently it is extremely common to have very vivid dreams during pregnancy - I wouldn't know the difference, having always had vivid dreams (I remember them around 6 out of 7 nights a week, and always in great detail), but I guess for people who don't normally experience that, it must be very strange!

Don't over analyse though, it's just your subconscious playing out your hidden hopes, fears and secrets.

Last night I dreamed that I was sharing a flat with a musician/pop star who was probably a drug addict. I had to rescue their baby from them and take it to the park and told him that if he didn't sort himself out I would call social services. All the while I was secretly thinking I would just keep the baby for myself. Excellent dream logic there - as I was sharing a flat with him, I think he might have noticed!

I have vastly preferred the sex dreams Blush including the one where me and DH went to a nightclub and in the VIP section, they were so used to people getting it on in their toilets, they had special cubicles with loads of space just for that purpose, which we made use of. I should probably try and make that into a business proposal on Dragons Den or something....

Cynner · 31/08/2012 16:46

I have shared this once before but deep breath whilst pregnant with ds, I continually dreamed I birthed kittens, and then nursed them. I would actually wake up with the feeling of their pin like little claws on my breasts..
So many hormones and feelings are swirling about during pregnancy..it would seem unnatural not to have some unusual and vivid dreams..

AGiraffeOnTheDivingBoard · 31/08/2012 18:40

Grin at all the crazy dreams!

kidcrayola · 31/08/2012 18:53

Yup me too. Im 13 weeks. I've always been quite the horror movie fan and it seems my sub conscious has been storing it all up to torture me now! Very vivid, very strange and quite messed up dreams its all quite unnerving as I never used to remember my dreams. DH is finding it quite amusing asking me about them in the morning.

6 weeks here and already sleep talking and rather charmingly, screaming Hmm Avoiding caffeine after 4 is meant to help. I do a relaxing hypnosis cd before bed as well - not sure it's really helped!
