As title says :)

After the baby is born I know I want to lose weight, I just don't know yet how I am going to do this in a healthy manner. Any tips?

I am a bit of a fitness fanatic and will definately try very hard to get back to my pre pregnancy fitness and body shape as I know it is possible.. I will get back to the gym as soon as I am feeling well enough and gradually build up to a couple of body pump classes a week, running about 10 k a week and a spin class and some swimming..that combined with sensible eating i.e lower carb intake, lean proteins and fruit and veg, reduced drinking and no sugary treats..carbs tend to be my worst enemy and I have to keep that intake under control as they have a tendency to get me to gain weight easily..

Calorie counting and exercise (Shred and Davina DVDs, and running at weekends) worked for me last time. With DD I was able to exercise when she slept though; with a newborn and a toddler I'm not sure that will be so easy. I might have to exercise in the evenings when DH is home (or early in the morning).

I put 5 stone last time (10st to 15st at 5'8'') and did Exante (total meal replacement) after I gave birth. Lost 6st in 6m taking me down to 9st. Regulated back to 10st once I came off the diet and stayed like that until I got pregnant again at Christmas.

Due DC2 in 2 wks and will be doing same again although have only put on 2.5st this time.

I was at Weight Watchers when I got pregnant (I'd lost 1/2 stone of the 2 and a bit stones I had to lose) and I'm planning on going back as I get on well with it. My baby is due in October, so I'll go back after Christmas as that gets over the 6 weeks you have to wait and, well, Christmas, where I will clearly stuff my face!

I'm a slimming clubs kinda gal. I don't try hard enough unelss I have money invested in the results. My willpower is shocking.

Emmiedarling, absolutely, eat less than you burn and you loose weight..But i have found that I feel happier and loose weight/tone quicker and easier if a larger portion of the calories i eat come from lean protein rather than carbs such as white bread, pasta, and potatoes..
I think slimmingclubs can help, some people but they are not for me, we have an ace gym with a creche so hoping to get to use that ALOT once feeling ok after delivery...

I'm going for a double whammy of being more moderate during pregnancy/bf and going back to WeightWatchers once I feel up to it afterwards. I put on nearly 4 stone with DD and it was just down to overindulging and stuffing myself with the 'excuse' that I was pregnant. I'm just eating what I want to eat, without gorging and overeating this time. I held on to my weight when bf last time (probably not helped by excessive biscuit/cake intake...) and I couldn't stick with WWs' plan for bf mums - I was just starving. But once DD turned 1 and I stopped bf, a stone fell off pretty much immediately and then I went to WW to deal with the rest and easily lost the extra weight. Fingers crossed I won't have so much to lose this time!

...although they can be expensive, part of the benefit of slimming clubs is that meeting people with the same goals as you each week is a real motivator, imo. I'm not sure I'd stick with it, otherwise! :)

Hi milk - I promise that I'm not following you around but I'll be joining weightwatchers after the little one comes in October. I was a bit overweight before getting pregnant and I want to make sure I get healthy eating back on track. DH has just signed up as well so we're going to be in this together. Will be going for the on-line option 3-month plan to begin with.

xx
