I'm wondering if I might have been forgotten by the midwife...! Any thoughts and experiences warmly welcomed x

Can you just not call the midwife (or GP surgery) and make an appointment? I know in my trust that I had to organise my own first couple of appointments and now they just do it while I see them.

You should definitely have a booking in appointment before the 12 week scan, especially if you wanted the nuchal fold test because you need to sign all the consent forms and they need to make sure you are aware of what it entails and what the outcomes might be.

Good luck!

How far along are you? I didn't get on the system for a 12 week scan until after I had a booking in appointment.

Rightydokey, was planning on calling her today but wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting anyone's time...! I spoke to her 5 weeks ago, was registered as pg and had appt letter for 12 week scan (next Weds) but not a squeak since.

Thanks for sound advice Smile

Booking in, but you often have to make the appointment yourself. It may not be the case in your area that if you've told a GP they'll tell the midwives.

To be honest, it won't really matter, there isn't anything anyone can do to intervene in a pregnancy in the first trimester and all you'll get is a load of leaflets which are duplicated on the NHS site. The main thing is a timetable for appointments for the rest of your pregnancy. Before 20 weeks everything can be caught up easily.

I didn't find out I was pg this time until I had blood tests for another reason, then I had scan that showed 12 weeks and finally had a midwife appt and the above is what they told me.

It just doesn't help that everywhere deals with things differently, but definitely give her a call! If nothing else the hospital will expect you to bring your notes with you.

Best of luck!

It depends on whether you need to be consented for the NT scan, I had my 12 week scan yesterday (turned out to be 10+4 so getting another in 2 weeks) and so my MW had to put my notes and consent through my door as she couldn't see me before today.

My GP told me she'd book it with MW but didn't, so beware of GPs telling porkies!

Where do you live?

Here in Surrey the boooking in appt is at 10, not 8 weeks.

But definitely phone to be on the safe side!

I had the same issue and was getting a bit worried about it. I called the community midwives who got my midwife to call me (though it took a few days).
Not sure what had happened, I get the impression that the communication between my GP surgery and her isn't the best but she made my appointment a priority and came out to see me at home to do all of the paperwork.

Booking before. With my first pregnancy it was about 10 weeks and with this one about 8ish weeks.

I had to make my own booking in appointment for around 10 weeks. Saw the GP when I knew I was pregnant and she organised 12 week scan, and told me to make a midwife appointment.
