Can I eat cooked unpasturised cheese?

My husband has cooked a lovely aubergine parmagiana for a dinner we're having with family tomorrow night.

He has just realised it's chock-a-block full of grand padano unpasturised cheese, which has all been cooked in the oven.

Er, is this still dodgy to eat or will it be ok now it's been cooked? Despite this being DC2, I'm embarrassed to admit I've forgotten all my pregnancy knowledge this time round.

Thank you.

It is fine. pasteurization is a heat treatment. Baking in an oven is an even hotter heat treatment.

The NHS website has good pages on whether you can eat certain cheeses in pregnancy, Google it (sorry, on phone so don't have it bookmarked)

Thanks all. Will Google the NHS page too.

The NHS pages confirm that yes, you can eat cooked unpastuerised cheese (which I looked up about 2 weeks ago - wish I'd thought of it 16 weeks ago!!)

I celebrated with chicken breasts stuffed with goats cheese and wrapped in parma ham - mmmmmmmmm.

Hard unpasteurised cheese such as gran pandano, parmesan etc is fine to eat uncooked apparently.

Yes, unpasteurised cheese which has been properly cooked is no problem. You may want to fully reheat before eating though (piping hot).
