Any specific tips? Just looking at mamas and papas website but all the nighties were grey and will probably make me feel like a frump! I'm 5'4'' size 12. Want to treat myself to some luxuries with my last proper pay cheque!

Oh do let me know if you discover any.. I've been on the hunt for something 'nice' for weeks.

I can only seem to find ones that are really clingy - I can imagine thats the last thing I'll want when I'm bleeding all over the place with massive VPL and wobbly tummy!

Perhaps I am being too picky?! haha.

ThreeWheelsGood · 29/08/2012 18:29

No I know the feeling Emmie! I want something I can live in and not feel too self conscious when family come to visit.

Just came across these PJs, pricey but great reviews: www.seraphine.com/bamboo-lounge-pyjama-black.html

M&S do a spotty grey nursing nightie online in their maternity range - I bought two and have lived in them at night for the last 5 weeks since having my baby - really comfy and wash really well. They have an inbuilt bra support too - cant recommend them enough - they were great in hospital too

ThreeWheelsGood · 29/08/2012 20:04

Thank you Impatientwino! I already have some fab maternity PJ bottoms from M&S, probably my best maternity buy.

Threewheels- which pj's did you get from M&S? I need some nice ones!

GrandPoohBah · 29/08/2012 21:30

I was in Mothercare earlier and they had a load of Blooming Marvellous clothing in there, and there were some nice pjs/nighties.

CalamityJ · 29/08/2012 22:36

Depending on what you mean by "grey" i.e. light or dark then I got this from Mothercare www.mothercare.com/Blooming-Marvellous-Maternity-Sleeveless-Nightdress/LW5016,default,pd.html?cm_sp=ProductFeatures--Category%2520landing--Blooming%2520Marvellous%2520Maternity%2520Sleeveless%2520Nightdress

And I wish I'd bought two because I love it. So comfy and flattering. It's officially "charcoal" if that helps!

I got some lovely stuff from designers at Debenhams when I had DD.

drjohnsonscat · 29/08/2012 22:41

I was going to say mamas and papas - they do change their colours every season so depending on your timing you might get another choice of colour. I still wear mine 6 years on (black with pink lace trim and blue with white spots).

ThreeWheelsGood · 29/08/2012 22:55

Seabuckthorn - I got these, such a bargain and always change straight into them when I get home! Been wearing them from about ten weeks, now 31 weeks.

Thanks for both recommendations of mothercare, I'll take a closer look!

Have to say I got brand new Tesco nighties in size huge for hospital them threw them away after the lochia stopped. I found my knickers shifted when I sat in bed enough that I bled on the nighties a couple of times. At the time they did a two pack of plain black cotton with contrast piping and a patterned one with black piping. It does take a few days for your womb to shrink so you'll still have a bump for a bit.

I bought nicer stuff which I wore from around 6 weeks post birth when my size stabilised and it would last longer and wouldn't get stained.

yellowdandelion · 30/08/2012 07:57

I agree with HappyCamel. I wouldn't have wanted to waste a lovely nightie in the days after giving birth! I did have a lovely one from Mamas and Papas that was good for feeding in though for later.

zoobaby · 30/08/2012 09:18

In my houshold, those M&S pants suggested by ThreeWheels are officially known as "the comfiest pants in the world"!

No elastic whatsoever in the front which is just such a MARVELLOUS thing (top holds that bit in place, or just let it flop down).

zoobaby · 30/08/2012 09:20

FWIW - I bought a two pack of nighties from Mothercare Blooming Marv range for £22. They also feel quite comfy and look respectable. Plus I figure I can afford to throw away £22 if they get wrecked by post-birth issues.

Catsmamma · 30/08/2012 09:25

Just to stick in my two penn'orth, I'd go with dark leggings and a long shirt or t shirt, possibly a light cardi....I love my jammies but felt very exposed and at a disadvantage dealing with nursing staff in my jammies

and take some indoor flipflops....there's no way on earth I could argue with anyone in my slippers.
