Am hoping someone can help me find a suitable pram/buggy its such a minefield out there! baby is due Christmas day - the winter period!
Am looking for :
3 wheeler - we live in the countryside, have horses so needs to be robust, good over uneven ground and sturdy but also lightweight to push up hills on walks.
Also needs to be able to go through snow as we tend to get alot round these parts!
Carry cot option - i def want a carry-cot/pram part - i want the baby to lie flat as much as possible, baby will be out and about with me a fair bit so needs to be comfortable and warm!
Car seat - we have a maxi cosi seat all ready so a chassis which will accommodate a maxi cosi seat would be a bonus but not essential!!
Budget - Okay this is where i am struggling! we have a maximum budget of up to £350, i am however, willing to search ebay/preloved and grab a bargain! so its kinda negotiable
I thought i found one - only finding it actually weighs an awful lot so its now out of the question!
Thanks guys!

mum bought me a mamas n papas zoom for 350. she also got some adapters for about 20 so we could put the maxi cosi on it.

What one did you like originally it might help narrow down other brands.

HarrietJonesPrimeMinister · 29/08/2012 18:48

Mountain buggy but might be more than £350. Pretty decent second hand one might work.

HarrietJonesPrimeMinister · 29/08/2012 18:50

mountain buggy but expensive.

melonian · 29/08/2012 18:56

Where are you? I am in Devon and have a mountain buggy with carrycot, seat, maxi cosi carseat adaptor, adjustable handles, sun and rain covers. 4yo but good condition. Haven't got round to ebaying it yet. Feel free to pm me if interested.

thereinmadnesslies · 29/08/2012 19:19

Quinny Speedi? It has big air filled tyres so it is good on uneven ground. Carrycot is called a Dreami and it is really snug.

carrielou2007 · 29/08/2012 20:08

Mountain buggy are fantastic and especially for what you need it for. They have a carry cot and ideal for bumpy ground/snow etc. they do hold their price as so well made I got mine from Pramworld after recommendation from owner of local babyshop bought obs for his son.

There are loads of three wheelers but most will just not cope with actually anything other than a pavement. I hated the Quinny Buzz but speedi are fab, tend to sell v cheap second hand and you can bug carrycot too.

Third option is Mothercard three wheelers they are big and heavy and tend to sell very cheaply second hand. I bought z black one locally for £30!!

phil and ted classic - ours has withstood 2 kids so far, beaches, snow, fords, mountains, fields etc etc. Doesn't have a carry cot but has a sort of 'holdall' to put baby in, maxi cosi seats will attach with adaptors. I wouldn't go too much on a carry cot as my daughter grew out of her moses basket in 2 weeks so would have been waste of money. Is also heavy and it would need to come off buggy before putting it into car boots.

3rdbump · 29/08/2012 20:43

The mountain buggy is out of our price range am afraid.
However the quinnys look okay - is the speedi better than the buzz off road then?

Buzz is useless on pavements and front wheel sticks walking on smooth shopping centre floors!! Speedi is good, seat is huge so will last.

Philip and texz bought out mountain buggy they make them now second hand still good price but mind new wax £300 I think (swift though, urban was too big/heavy/bulky for what we wanted it for though fzb with buggy board!!)

Have you looked at the nipper 360 by out n about? We have one and it's the most manoeuvrable pram I've tried and cheaper than mountain buggy. There's no carry cot, but baby can lie flat from newborn. The v1s are less than £200 new. Can't recommend highly enough.

littlestgirlguide · 29/08/2012 21:06

Can't praise the speedi enough. Ours is 3 years old and has done every terrain from beach to mountain top, foot of snow, and managed fine. I bought mine on eBay new for £249 and they are only slightly more now, also bought a second hand dreami carrycot which was great (cost £30) and a maxi cosi cabriofix. Fantastic buggy.

tutu100 · 29/08/2012 21:11

I would also have reccomended the Out n About Nipper, I have the v1 and have been really pleased with it. I think it is the lightest 3 wheeler you can get, but it has dealt with everything we have thrown at it, sand, snow, mud, hills and shopping centres! The only thing it couldn't do (and I don't think any buggy could do) was a very stoney beach.

The v2 can take a maxi cosi car seat, btu I don't think it has a carrycot.

You could have a look at the Baby Jogger Elite, That takes the maxi cosi and you can also get a carrycot for it. It may come to more than your budget, but you can get it from places that regularly have discount codes.

DevaDiva · 29/08/2012 21:28

I had an Urban Detour three wheel off roader from Mothercare, £250ish I think, which was fabulous did both DCs. This was 10 years ago but I still see them around, would totally recommend it was fab Grin

JoulesM · 29/08/2012 21:29

Baby jogger summit...we used it in snow, sand and proper off road running!! Pushchairs.co.uk do a great price and can take maxi cosi and carrycot. It's not as light as the Out and About but certainly sturdier. We love ours and if I can work out a way to use for our 23month old and newborn (imminent) I will!!

mrswoz · 30/08/2012 08:39

Maxi cosi mura? My friends have bought one for walking over odd terrains, theirs came with soft carrycot but hard carrycot also available. Takes cabriofix car seat too. They found it much sturdier than a buzz (which is really NOT an all terrain pram) and cheap enough second hand, well under 200, and I have seen them for under 300 brand new. They come in 3 or 4 wheel versions, wheels come off to go in car but my only concern is the weight of it, personally I found it too heavy.

Baby Jogger City Summit XC pushchair

theTramp · 30/08/2012 18:41

melonain - I am in London but would be interested in that...

dikkertjedap · 30/08/2012 18:45

I would go for a Baby Jane, strong, lots of accessories (including warm covers and a variety of different rain covers). Baby is not totally flat but from about 3 months onwards it is a brilliant push chair.

BionicEmu · 30/08/2012 19:23

I also have the nipper 360 and love it. We are rural, lots of muddy tracks and hills and it's simply brilliant. Also v, v light to push, and very cheap for something that feels so sturdy.

If you're worried about the carrycot thing, could you use a sling for the first few months? I.E. until baby would have grown out of the carrycot anyway. You'd have no problems with muddy tracks/snow/keeping warm with a sling!

Caveat: I know nothing about slings, I have a chronic spinal/pelvic condition which means I just couldn't cope with one, but it seems one would be a good solution. Also, that sort of proves how easy the nipper 360 is to push - if I can manage it anyone can!

ellangirl · 30/08/2012 22:09

Out n about nipper v2 does have a carrycot now, just out. Also takes car seat. Total cost does exceed your budget tho... This site are v good IME here

milk · 31/08/2012 07:19

The wise Tiggywunkle says:

"LOL I dont stray off Pushchairs. But at Boots at present the Baby Jogger Elite is £255.99 with £25 of points! Plus money off probably via Quidco! She should have change for her carrycot - second hand at least, maybe even new, or a Bugaboo Cocoon or similar!!"
