In the sense that I haven't been since Friday!

Anyone got any fail safe tips to get things moving?

There has been some lactulose induced movement - although nothing like what is epic enough to meet the current requirements.

Little and often as they say....

DH has been despatched for prune juice.

I'm intrigued by the activist yoghurt! Sounds dangerous

Yoga / the pregnancy pilates DVD. A morning coffee (though you might be off the caffeine).

I found a short yoga session on youtube - good for trapped wind too.

Pregnancy is so bloody glamorous. Good luck!!

Liquorice isn't on the NHS 'don't eat' list so reckon it's fine. I'd be more worried about senakot though, as i took that once (only one tablet) and woke up with explosions and constant diarrhea and a temperature for three days. i felt so ill. Blush

TruthSweet · 29/08/2012 22:22

Well I ended up going to the GP as I have been bleeding when going to the toilet today even though no Senokot for a few days. Apparently I may have piles now or possibly it's the pressure from the baby as she's very low down and the Senokot is a little bit harsh hence bleeding/clots! Movicol for me now (matching with DD3 who has the Paed. version!).

So perhaps don't try the Senokot!

SilverSixpence · 29/08/2012 22:27

Liquorice is actually not recommended any more, it's on the patient.co.uk leaflet we give to patients at our practice. I can't remember why though offhand

theTramp · 30/08/2012 08:38

I believe liquorice is fine IF you only eat a little. It's eating lots that's problematic.

It clears up blockages wonderfully though, after which a high fibre prune or apricot regime should keep things moving along.

Walking helps me btw - it was mentioned upthread and I find it similarly shifts things about.

Yoga for trapped wind - why didn't I think of that?' genius (off to find yoga DVD)

EmpireBiscuit · 30/08/2012 12:44

Well, given I am sure you are all just DYING to know the goings on of my intestinal tract:

I now have a love/hate relationship with lactulose, no less than 3 rather large...ehmm....movements (?) later I am feeling great, however the excess wind is more than a little embarrassing and none too pleasant smelling. Although, it fairly cleared the boardroom of dull men discussing dull things. As the only woman present I just tutted, rolled my eyes and made out it was the guy next to me....

Empire Grin

Glad it's (sort of) worked out for you :)

Actually I can lend you the dog (again, I'm trying really hard to get rid of him aren't I?) and you can blame the whiffy smells on him Grin

AGiraffeOnTheDivingBoard · 30/08/2012 21:04

Grin Happy news OP!

Found this on youtube - takes two minutes and I'm sure it helps !
