Morning sickness...better to vomit and get it over with or better to hold it down incase vomiting just opens the flood gates?

I never really vomited with morning sickness, it was just horrible nausea that never came to anything. Tbh would have much preferred to vomit and feel better but then no guarantee of that either.

DS is 1 next week but morning sickness is something I don't think I'll ever forget.
I found vomiting gave me a but of relief for a while and I could be normal enough to get to work or have a shower, then it would start again.
No doubt you'll get everyone giving you all their tips, the ones who've never experienced it are the best!!
Ginger biscuits, eating before you get up, sucking sweets etc etc. All useless for me, and made me murderous every time someone mentioned them!
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

I would go with the vomiting although the annoying thing is it does not make you feel any better ..... you could try to eat a little bit of a dry cracker when you feel really sick as that MAY take it off a little if you hate been sick .
Right : how many weeks are you ??
Hope it passes for you soon ...mine went about 17 weeks ....its awful but there is hope .

Personally I find that if I am sick, it knocks me out for the rest of the day. If i can fight it off, then i generally feel better overall. But i have that really special MS which inly kicked in at 12wks (was just nauseaous before then) and which shows no sign of going away at 15wks. Sigh.

I felt better once it came up.

The nausea was the worst bit for me, I always felt better afetr spewing up my guts Grin

IME the vomiting pretty much happened when it happened - it wasn't left up to me and it certainly happened very quickly. Other than those times I just felt like I wanted to vomit the rest of the time I was awake. That was bad.

In my experience, definitely felt better if I actually vomited. Being sick is horrible but if I felt bad in the morning I'd often be sick to get it over with, then feel less nauseous throughout the day. It won't last forever , keep your fluid intake up.

for me, actual vomiting (which started about wk 10 and is still going strong at wk 16) was infinitely preferable to the all day nausea and dry retching that I had before. Now I have a small amount of breakfast knowing it'll come back up after about an hour of sloshing around in my belly, vomit, then eat something tasty like cheese on toast and feel better for the rest of the day. If you are going to be sick though-eat something that won't be too bad coming back up iyswim-fruit yoghurt much better than orange juice!
One more tip-I went through a phase of eating polos like mad to try to get rid of the constant manky taste in my mouth...they turn really nasty when they come back up so avoid like the plague!!

Grapes and twiglets have sorted me out. Grapes first thing (kept by my bed) and then twiglets mud morning. Some days I feel powerless against the vomit but mostly I have a damn good talk with myself an just cope with the nausea. 10 weeks - will it stop soon?!Smile
