I am rapidly approaching 42. TTC no.2 with MMC @ 10 weeks in March. Increasingly concerned that I might be out of time. Can you just post to say "me" if you're 42 and expecting? Apologies for sheer self-interest and thanks!

I had DD1 aged 40 and DD2 3 months ago aged 42 (also had 2 m/c along the way)
It is possible, hang in there as long as you can!
Good luck Smile

Like jetstar, I had DD at 40 and have just given birth to DS at 42. DP is 44 by the way: age of partner also plays a part re sperm production, I understand.

resipsa · 24/08/2012 14:52

Thanks. DP only 36! Had DD at 40 so hoping to strike 2 in the 40s!

I'm currently pregnant with DC3, Got the BFP when I POAS on my 41st birthday. Took one month to get pregnant, at my booking appointment the midwives said 'your husband must be very pleased with himself'!

What is your genetic history like, my Mum had a late menopause and both my grandmothers had healthy pregnancies in their late 30s so I knew I was from good genetic stock. Apparently there is a link between pregnancy in your 40s and living to over 100, can't decide if this is good or bad.

I work with someone whose Mum thought he was the menopause, he was born when she was 47, his older sisters are 20 years older!

Me.I will be 42 within days of my due date. First kid for me and Dh who is 40. We figured we were not going to be successful without help but we did.

himynameisfred · 25/08/2012 06:28

you are brave to risk all the heartache of deathagain, I hope you manage to get what you want.
I want a beautiful little girl (I have boys) had my first girl in June and she died during childbirth, don't know if I could face it again.

It's amazing strengh to take such risks after tragedy x

EldritchCleavage · 25/08/2012 07:06

My mother had an early menopause. She didn't even tell me that until after DD was born though, so I never had a chance to worry about it!

Didn't want to read and run himynameisfred - I am so sorry to hear what happened. Words are just not enough. I hope you are getting all the support you need in RL and on MN. FF xx

Had DS at 40. MC x3 from 42 on; now ~33w with DC2 at 45.
Things that I believe helped me:
? John Billings' Ovulation Method book, although I'm utterly horrified to see that it's currently going for ~£95 on Amazon!! I only paid £7 for it back in 2010. Shock Using this helped me realise that I had a longer post-ovulation time than 14d; in a 26d cycle, I was ovulating around D9 or 10, not D12.
? Knowing that I had factor V Leiden thrombophilia, so taking extra precautions re. blood clotting; although the aspirin didn't seem to help any, this time around I went straight for the clexane - it may have made the difference.
? Finding out I was vit D deficient and rectifying that - low vit D is associated with both secondary infertility and miscarriage. Also may have contributed to the difference.

Good luck!

I had DD3 at 41.8yo. It was and is fine. Don't fancy doing it again though (I'm 44 now, she's about to turn 3), so DD will remain the last by a long stretch.

Thumbwitch · 25/08/2012 14:45

Thank you :)

pickledraisins · 25/08/2012 19:34

I'm 43 and 34 weeks pregnant naturally, after years of ivf. I gave up, and as everyone predicts, accidentally got pregnant. It does happen. Good luck xxx
