Worried about movements at 22 weeks

Is it normal to have changes in movements at 20 weeks? I'm 22 weeks and usually baby kicks a few times an hour, sometimes every couple of hours.
Since tues eve he's been very quiet, even after eating not much movement.

Yesterday I didn't notice any kicks until I got home from work at 6pm and now this morning, nothing. Usually, when I wake up, he does and starts kicking.
I'm going to call midwife soon to be safe but I'm sure he's ok. Just posting incase it's normal to have changes like this - I read they develop their sleep patterns around this time which could be 12-14 hours of sleep

Definitely call your midwife. I was told that any change in movement pattern should be checked. Hopefully all is fine and he/she is just sleepy but better to be safe. X

Thank you. Just had a little light prod, hopefully he's been sleeping more

I'm the same as you (23 weeks tomorrow) and I was thinking that I'd noticed changes in the last week or two.

I used to feel a lot of kicks late at night, and then late morning, whereas now I get them more early evening and when I very first wake up or stir in the morning, so anytime between 6am and 7:30am.

I don't notice much at all in the day time, maybe the odd bit of ballet on my bladder, but I've put that down as me just being too busy to notice!

I read too that sleeping patterns etc get developed around now so presumed it was that. I think if I hadn't felt anything at all for a couple of days I would call the midwife, but at the moment I'm so busy I'm not sure I would even notice straight away....

Sorry I'm not sure if that's much help!

Hi,
Just thought i would post as i was in the exact same position as you a few weeks ago. I have just been for my midwife appointment (25 weeks) and she has said from now i need to measure movement.
I explained i had a period of time, around 21 weeks i didn't feel much but she said as there is more space for baby to hide then this can be the case.
Of course if you are concerned then call your midwife - i just thought i would put your mind at rest (if poss) that i think its quite common at that stage. :-)

I constantly worried at that stage- and still do really. Of course it's always worth getting checked out if you're worried, but it is early to expect a definite routine- some people haven't felt anything by 22 weeks. My midwife kept reminding me up until 30 weeks to imagine it like a tiny teddy bear inside an inflated balloon. Only if the baby is touching the sides will you feel anything, and if it's just in the middle doing it's own thing, you won't feel much. Proper monitoring is really advised after 28 weeks. I'm not 31 weeks and still have some days quieter than others. However I would say if you have felt a 'routine' and then that changes, it's always worth the phone call to the midwife. Or if you just need reassurance- it's what they're there for.
