Carrying toddler whilst pregnant in backpack style carrier

I'm 25 weeks pregnant, my DS who is 23 months hasn't been in a pram since last November as I've been using a carrier. I'm still carrying him in the backpack when we go out, just putting the strap below my bump. A few people have commented on it in the street now asking me how I'm doing it? And why. Am I doing something stupid here....being a bit blasé, am I doing something to jeopardise this pregnancy?

I feel fine, he doesn't feel to heavy...my mother thinks I shouldn't pick DS up because I'll do damage but I'm not sure how that would be possible!!

I still use my carrier. Ds is 25 months and I find it much more convenient. The damage you could do is more to yourself I would think as everything is relaxed so make sure you lift him properly and the weight is distributed in the correct way using the straps.

If it feels ok then my instinct would be its fine. Our carrier got uncomfortable for me at some point (the strap over bump cut in) and so I stopped. But its great exercise and promotes a good posture and strong back and core so carry on if it's comfy

I still use a stretchy wrap sling in a front carry for DD3 who's 2y 10m (though not in this heat!!). It's really comfy for both of us and there's no pressure put on my bump - I have hypermobility and SPD tendencies (I had very bad SPD with DD1, and minor SPD with DD2 & DD3) so if it was going to cause problems I'd know about it very quickly!

If it's uncomfortable, or you have pains/aches after using the carrier then stop, but if not then why not carry on using the carrier. Or you could swap to a woven wrap sling for back carries as then the weight would be spread over the whole width of the fabric not just rucksack straps. (Don't use a stretchy wrap for back carries though as they just aren't safe as the child could lean back and fall out - front is fine for stretchies though)

That's great to hear :) Thank you all. I feel fine, feel like I've done a bit of exercise but nothing too much, I think it was just the stares and comments that made me question whether I was doing something daft!

I'll be carrying on!!!

:)
