I saeem to be constantly drinking yet my urine was still a little dark at my midwife appointment.
How much are you ladies drinking to stay hydrated?

I'm proabaly drinking about 4 pints of water each day. No idea if this is enough!

Couldnt tolerate our tap water so I bought a Brita filter and it now tastes gorgeous!

I think the vitamins can make your wee seem a bit of a strange colour though!!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 19/08/2012 14:07

I'm drinking water by the pint - about 3 litres a day I think! Have been like this since I got pregnant (now 33w)

Dogsmom · 19/08/2012 15:36

i'm drinking about 4 pints a day, mainly milk because everything else makes me sick, my pee is dark too, someone said it's the pregnancy vitamins (I'm taking pregnacare) but I don't know if that's true.

I'm not sure how much, but definitely a lot more than usual. I've run out of Pregnacare this week and am back on plain folic acid till I get more, that doesn't seem to have made a difference. Still thirstier than usual!

CakeBump · 19/08/2012 15:41

I'm drinking litres every day, probably 3 or 4. I've always drunk a lot of water as I used to get a lot of UTIs.

My wee is pretty normal I would have said - sometimes almost clear, darker in the morning or when its hot (which it is at the moment - 34 degrees!)

Midgetm · 19/08/2012 15:55

2 ltrs as a minimum, probably more like 3 most days though.

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 19/08/2012 15:56

Nowhere near enough. I just feel bloated constantly. Maybe it'll be easier when baby moves down, but I'm just finding it difficult. What are you drinking?

39 weeks today! Severe dehydration landed me in hospital with heart problems so I've been taking isotonic drinks - Powerade Zero at the moment. Doctor recommended 7-Up but I couldn't stomach that much sugar.

Having an isotonic drink overnight has made a huge difference to how I feel generally. I've also checked that I will be on a drip during labour as I dehydrate really fast (even when not pregnant).

Wheels79 · 19/08/2012 16:19

Before I was pregnant I drank little. Since I have made an effort to drink more and manage about 1 - 1 1/2 litres per day more in the hot weather - probably 3 litres. My dh still has to remind me though.

doncaster72 · 19/08/2012 16:37

Drinking mainly mineral water. At least 2 litres but clearly not enough. Good point though re vitamins.

I'm 39 and a bit weeks too and have also been landed up on a drip twice in the last week for dehydration. This even though I was convinced I was drinking plenty. It has been excruciatingly hot though hasn't it? So yesterday I started making a tally of how many big glasses of water / cups of tea etc I am drinking.
Yesterday I'd got to 11 glasses of water (totalling around 4400ml) plus a few mugs of decaf tea and good old raspberry leaf tea. So far today I'm on glass of water no7 and about 3 or 4 cups of tea.
Determined not to have to go into hospital for that again....!

Drinking a lot more than usual, and feel quite queasy/faint when I don't drink enough for any reason, but my wee is much darker than usual.

I had wondered if it was the pregnancy vitamins too? (I'm taking Boots own brand Pregnancy Support)

FoxyRoxy · 20/08/2012 17:38

About 3l? Iive in a hot country (currently 38 degrees) so probably more than most. I've noticed my pee stays yellow until afternoon and I think it's the pregnancare as I'm drinking enough. I think it's b vits that make your pee funny. (36+5)

Sastra · 20/08/2012 18:09

3-4l, but I would drink 2.5-3l before being pregnant anyway. I think I'm a thirsty person!
