I'm 30 weeks. It's 31 degrees this weekend. I live in the world's sunniest flat.

Tips for keeping cool this weekend ladies??

Hi, also dreading the boiling temperature today. 29wks and feeling huge. I get I big 2litre bottle, fill it with cold water, stick it in the fridge and when nice and cold put your feet on it. Especially good at night to stick your feet on & works surprisingly well. Another tip, not tried it but apparently stick your bed sheet in the freezer! Can't imagine it lasts long though. Apart from that I make sure I've got plenty of ice in the freezer and suck one as and when! Good luck today!

Be as naked as possible as much as possible.

Cool showers as often as you like.

I find keeping my bedroom blinds and curtains closed keeps the bedroom cool.
Ice lollies - as many as you can stomach Grin

Just wear underwear, or a bikini if you want to look fancy.
Turn the lights out (not cos of bikini ha ha, because light fixtures produce more heat, last thing you need)
Use an electric fan (especially at night)
keep curtains/blinds closed enough to block sunlight
Soak hand towels in icy water and wear like a neckerchief
go somewhere with ac if you can (the mall)

Put cold water in the washing up bowl and put your feet in it when you're sat on the sofa. Good luck!

33+5 here and feel your pain, I've been in the shower twice this morning already because I feel bloody sticky and yucky. I went to bed in just my pants and still woke up this morning feeling like a tramp's sticky armpit.

I open as many windows as I can to get a draft blowing through the house. Keep lots of frozen things in and stick my feet in the kids' paddling pool at every opportunity. Have also been known to just sit in it as well, kids complain though cos I 'take up too much room' Hmm

33+5 = I have become the family fan hogger Grin

Same timings as OP. had cold wet flannels in the bed last might around my feet. Bit wierd but helped!!
Might try the cold (but dry) water bottle idea tonight. My feet are just so hot all the time!

I've found a good one - fill up a bottle with a spray lid with cold water. Mist face regularly!

Last night, I held 3 tea towels under the tap then put them in the freezer. Went to sleep with them covering me.
Today I think I might move into the car as it is air conditioned.

I have just had a cold shower before Bed. Have never, ever had a cold shower before! It worked - for about 5 mins!

All windows open at all times; sit in the nearest place to an open window in the living room, cool showers, swap your hot drinks for cold ones and don't wear many clothes.

Despite all of these things I'm still too warm much of the time, I feel your pain!

CaptainHetty · 20/08/2012 19:02

Last night was pretty unbearable, tempted to try the frozen towel thing and great idea on the spray bottle to mist the face! I swear being pregnant in hot summer weather seriously sucks...

thereistheball · 20/08/2012 22:09

Bizarrely warm water is more refreshing than cold so having a hot shower will cool you down for longer than a cold one, ESP if you can loll around with no clothes on / a fan on you for a bit. Having wet hair is good too.

It's been 38 degrees here, and I'm in my last trimester with twins. Feel your pain!
