I've got a wedding in Oct - i'll be 38 weeks. I'm planning on wearing heels and then changing into uggs/crocs/something equally fugly but practical as soon as everyone is drunk! And frankly, at full term, who will judge???

Belchica · 17/08/2012 13:14

Crocs or Uggs at a a wedding??? I'm sorry, but no way! There is absolutely no need for a complete style transplant just because you're pregnant. At least, not in public!

You can pick up cute cheap pumps in Accessorize, Office, M&S...At 32 weeks I was able to manage a small heel for a wedding and carried flats in a bag to change into later.

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 17/08/2012 13:29

Ok, you would judge apparently. Meh.

I recommend Accessorize flats which have a bit of elastic round the edge and a flower on the front. Can't link on phone but they were £30.

Very comfy even now at 36 weeks with huge feet Blush.

They come in black, light pink or dark blue I think.

Have you tried tried new look? They always seem to have nice flats depends what you class as weddingy really. Last year I wore some metalic coloured sandals to a wedding as I dont do heels really. So might be a possibility depending on when it is.
How about wedges?

VickyU · 17/08/2012 14:16

Topshop do brilliant and comfy leather pumps. I wore a pair at my own wedding!

Luckystar96 · 17/08/2012 14:27

'Fly' shoes are the most comfy, cushiony shoes I've ever put on.( My friend had a pair of gorgeous wedge sandals and insisted I try them on). They may be expensive, I don't know, but would be ideal. She had worn them all round Disneyland!

I've got a wedding in October at near enough 37wks pg and if I wear the dress I'm currently thinking of, I will be wearing heels for the ceremony & photos, then switching to some DP flats. I'm not really a heels kind of girl anyway, so have lots of pumps/flats, but I agree, New Look, DP, Primark or similar high street stores might have something that works, and at some of those prices, it might not matter if you never wear them again!

newtonupontheheath · 17/08/2012 14:58

I bought some flats from accessorize for my own wedding (wore heels for the registry office bit) when I was 28 weeks which I've continued to wear for work since. Can't link as I'm on my phone but they are called "estelle bling" £32 They're lovely, not bling at all! And everybody has said how nice they are. They haven't rubbed and my feet are swollen as they come!!

La Redoute have got some really good offers on lots of pretty ballerina type flatties today, all sorts of colours. Worth having a look there?

They're my favourites too - and you could wear them after as well, dress them down with jeans or a wee denim skirt.

Pickles77 · 17/08/2012 21:36

Topshop have some gorgeous beaded black flat shoes that would go lovely with that I'm on my iPhone so not sure if

Belchica I'm with you there, love.

I swapped to flats months ago but only cute ones! Need some new ones so will check these links out, ta all and OP.

I went to a wedding at about 28 weeks and wore wedges that were about 2.5", they were surprisingly fine.

For DH's birthday party, when I was about 32 weeks, I wore small kitten heels, and again, they were fine.

(and I live in Converse normally!)

Clarks have some lovely ballet pumps that have a bit of support and comfy insoles. When pg I find that I can't tolerate really flat pumps, like those from New Look etc, as they jar your back when you walk and don't have any support.
Get some good quality ones that you'll wear again and again.

And I love the dress, btw!

theTramp · 18/08/2012 07:23

My big tip with flats is to buy ones with well cushioned soles. Reality is if you buy a good pair you'll wear them to death so the extra splurge is worth it. Too many of the cheapies have no cushioning, so seem blissful at first but if you walk about in them for a bit start to be as painful as heels and can be really bad for your feet - no arch support.

Therefore I'd eschew topshop, DP etc if favour of Hobbs, Coach, Russel & B or Pretty Ballerina. Prices are reflected in quality & comfort. My coach flats - which were gorgeous - went with jeans, suits & dresses. I got two years of almost constant daily wear out of them and they cost me £80 (in sale).

Loads of really lovely flats in Hobbs sale and non sale online at mo. Same too pretty bals. I'd def go try them on so you can feel difference. Would expect Dr S flats to be similarly well cushioned.
