I once read an amazing collection of birth stories. 1st child had been a successful uc, the second had birth defects and was delivered by c-section and didn't survive. The parents concieved very quickly, (weeks) afterwards and went on to have another successful UC. Obviously very sad at times, and personally I wouldn't want to have an unassisted birth, but very inspiring.

You need to talk to your doctor as the advice is to wait a year.

My sil got pregnant five months after her emcs, she is a doctor too.

Can be done

Firstly - congratulations! I can see why you're shocked and worried but as others have said it can be done. Book in with your GP as soon as possible. Then before your DH comes home have a Brew, take a deep breath and let him know. You need support in this situation and the sooner the better.

Congratulations. Not ideal timing of course, but talk to your doctor. I fell pregnant 9 months after a C Section and 8 months after open stomach surgery (busy month surgery wise last year) - lots of ab damage and scars cross crossed over my tummy area :) Am 7 months along now and the doctors haven't been worried so far. They will just keep a closer eye on you. My C section scar doesn't feel to have stretched at all with this new pregnancy, though it does itch from time to time (I think that's common whether or not you're pregnant though).

Hi,

I got pregnant 3 months after a C section. At the time, neither the midwife nor hospital staff at scans seemed bothered about the short gap. My second DC also arrived through the sunroof (both CS were planned rather than emergency). The second CS took a lot longer than the first. A consultant came to see me after the op and said my scar tissue was dangerously thin, and therefore difficult to stitch back up again. She also said I MUST leave it at least a year before I get pg again or I may rupture.

What I'm saying is no problem here, but I was a bit freaked out at the thin scar tissue comment!

Good luck. A small gap is full- on at first, but they are so close now and they like doing the same age-related stuff. And for the first year or so they took naps at the same time. Grin

hello, my randy old best pal got P with no 4, when no 3 was 3 months old. This will be her 4th CS. She is fine, with no complications. She lives in Ireland where more CS for multiple babies are more common. Her doc told her he had a patient who was on her 6th - whilst it might not be ideal, it does happen. Her only concern is that it may take a little longer to get through and stitch scar tissue. It took a little longer with no 3, but there were no issues and both were fine.

Hiya so I’ve just found out I’m 7 weeks pregnant after having a baby via a c section 15 weeks ago. Has anyone been in this situation before. Was using protection but one condom broke. So unsure on what to do also very scared. Thank you

halfbakedbutternutsquash · 07/01/2026 09:30

Oops. Yeah, that happens. We were also using condoms (obviously not properly), breastfeeding, and 7 months PP. I'm now pregnant with second. Chances are you and baby will be fine. Our bodies are amazing. Congratulations and all the best.
