Can you get your shoes on?

im 31+3 weeks and havent been able to get my shoes or boots on for over 6 weeks!! Even socks feel tight around the ankle :-(

I can only wear flip flops, im walking round in the rain with flip flops on :-(

I ve spoken to my midwife who says swollen feet are normal.

I ve tried keeping them up, and even though they go down abit, as soon as im on my feet for 10mins, they are back to being massive again.

Im knackard all the time, even walking up stairs is a big effort.

And my left eye keeps twitching and has been for the last 5 days.

Any advice appreciated!

31+4 - feet the same - flip flops end espadrilles - nothing I can do about it - good job we're pregnant over summer!

Also v v tired - although I do a dog walk for 30 mins a day, I think even if you don't feel like it a gentle stroll is good for you ( so I have been told - does not feel like it at the time!). Stairs also knacker me out!

All sounds fairly normal to me - not sure there is much you can do about it :-) Home straight now though!!

24+5 and have to hold my breath for socks/laces Blush

My mw suggested sleeping with my feet on a pillow and it's absolute genius for swollen ankles!

LittleSugaPlum · 15/08/2012 17:02

I ve tried the pillow, and my feet were still the same in the morning, my toes are swollen too and my fingers are, as i cant get my rings off, whereas i used to be able to get them off easily.

Pregnancy is no fun

Are you drinking enough? I swell if I'm even slightly dehydrated!

If not, I'm resorting to making you a Brew and nodding sympathetically, this is my first :o

I drink constantly, im always thirsty, i must drink around 10pints a day. I dont use small glass anymore, just the pint ones!

This is my first too :-)

I was just about come on and start a thread about this. Am totally stressing. 34+5 My feet look like shrek feet, my aupair even made a comment. They seem normal in the morning but by this time. They are actually sore cos they so swollen. My knee has given way aswell, something to do with hyper mobility during pregnancy. Have a 12 month old at home aswell. Just feel really debilitated Sad

Everyone mentions my feet too, Shoes are completely out the question, i just hope my feet go back to normal as soon as baby is born

I am 32 weeks and my feet look normal but I struggle to bend down to close any sandals.

Here are some links about self massages to help swollen feet:

pregnancy.about.com/cs/symptoms/a/swelling.htm

I get lots of cramps at night though and going upstairs makes me out of breath really quickly.

My feet are ridiculous too!!! They normally go down by the morn if I keep them raised on pillows but, as you say, they blow up again within mins of walking. Just so long as they're checking you urine for protein and your bp then I think we'll have to endure it! And it's supposed to get hotter which always makes mine worse SadSad people have told me it took a while for them to get back to normal after birth. Oh the glamour of pregnancy!

Fat, pudgy, feet here too and I will only wear flip flops regardless of the weather.

Just too much bloody effort for anything else, plus I get so sweaty even with open toed shoes in the pissing rain, so in boots I think I would actually melt!

I'm finding a 5 minute foot soak with my feet dipped in my DS's bath fantastic for soothing my feet after the day. I sit on a stool, I'm not that supple!!
Then air dry them as I dry him. Seems to cool them off nicely

Runningblue · 15/08/2012 20:04

Ps DS loves washing my feet too, thinks its a great new game - win win all round!

LittleSugaPlum · 15/08/2012 20:17

i think i will borrow your son for the day ! :-)

I have sympathy. When pg with DD 2 years ago it was a really hot summer and all I could wear were flip flops. Luckily DD was born in September so I could wear flip flops till the end. This time I'm due in December, I'm not sure how the flip flops are going to work for that long! Hmm

LittleSugaPlum · 27/08/2012 15:26

Does the swelling of the feet go straight after birth?
