Can anyone recommend any "must read" pregnancy books?

Any recommendations for books on nutrition and diet when pregnant would be fab too.

I'm sure this must have been asked before, but I'm not getting along with the forum search function very well just yet.

I liked 'The Best Friends Guide to Pregnancy' as it is a bit tongue in cheek and funny. It is written by an American for a US audience though, so steer clear if you think that would irritate you!

Anything by Sheila Kitzinger or Ina May Gaskin.

I've got the MN preg book, I got it when preg with ds and now preg again I've started to re-read it.

Its informative and funny and full of quotes from mumsnetters.
It's cut into 1st, 2nd, 3rd trimesters, post birth and a bit for dads too.

In just about to start reading the third tri section Grin

i would like to know this too!

i have just read the 'The Best Friends Guide to Pregnancy'

it was absolutely atrocious and couldn't finish it.

what finally did it for me after all the going on about how your life will be crap afterwards for evermore was the comment that if your husband is accompanying you to prenatal visits he is obviously weird and has too much time on his hands.

will be reading this thread for any suggestions preferably from people that hated the above book!

Thanks everyone! That gives me a good few books to get started with - can see this becoming a little addictive.

ladymia Grin! I think I was just so fed up in pregnancy that I appreciated someone telling me it was ok to feel crap, look crap, etc. It was nauseatingly american but some bits made me LOL.

Never read the MN pg book, but based on another MN book I have, I would read it.

I bought Birth and Beyond the first time round and really loved it. Considering I'm 37 weeks with my second I should probably revisit it!
