VBAC?

I am going to be attempting a vbac in 5 weeks and was just wondering if anyone has had a c-sec due to 'failure to progress' followed by a successful vbac?

My midwife has suggested that previous csec may have been due to the size of DS1s head - apparently anything above 35cms in diameter can be difficult to pass through the cervix...

Thoughts welcome...

A friend of mine had exactly that - EMCS due to faluire to progress on ds1 followed by successful VBAC on ds2. She then went on to have ELCS on dd1.
Good luck! Smile

You should look on childbirth. People talk about this all the time.

Ahh :)

Yeah I had a successful vbac with threatened c section because I stopped progressing then suddenly he decided to come and shot out. I don't think there is a textbook answer to be honest.

I had a successful vbac after emcs due to failure to progress. DS1 had quite a large head and I have a small pelvis apparently! During my vbac I just had gas and air, very different from the first time round. I was able to be mobile which I think helped with my successful vbac.

However, I did end up in theatre again because dd got stuck but still managed a vbac in the end.

During my hospital appointments I ALWAYS saw my consultant, I also had a meeting with the head midwife who wrote a plan with me (even opting for a water birth) and wrote lots of info for the midwives to see when I finally went in to labour. I am pregnant with my 3rd and I am hopeful for that water birth this time round. Good luck.

Kaekae - how did you manage to persuade them to let you albour in water? My consultant reckons this is unsafe with a vbac as they need to monitor you continuously...

putonahappyface: I think you are right there are definitely no textbook answers here!

I am also hoping for a waterbirth vbac this time. The hospital has some newfangled waterproof wireless monitoring device so baby can still be monitored :)

What hospital are you at Ellesabe??

Princess Royal in Haywards Heath. They also have them at Sussex County - might be worth asking about...

Have asked about water and keep getting told no by consultants.
They do have a natural birth center attached to the hospital though so might give them a call and discuss. Thanks. And good luck with your vbac :)
