Anterior Placenta, moves and C-sections

Hi all

I had a private scan a week or so ago and sonographer said my placenta was anterior, does this mean attached to the front of me?

If so does this make a second C-Section more risky? Ive read about something called morbidly anterior placenta on doc google and am a bit concerned..

Also im 19+2 with DC2, i was feeling flutters (not daily but regularly) but they seem to of stopped, could this be as baby has moved to behind placenta or should I be worried?

Thanks

I also have an anterior placenta with dc2. It means it's on the front of your uterus, and so acts like a cushion between baby and you. Movements are often felt later, and not as vigourously.

I have no rhyme nor reason to my movements at the moment, 20+3 - sometimes I feel quite a lot, other times hardly anything. It depends the position she's in. She was obviously in a good one Friday night when she woke me up - something her brother never did.

Regarding c-sections - they'll tell you at your anomaly scan If there is any concern, but I believe it doesnt generally cause problems. They may have to alter where they'd normally cut, and you might have more bleeding, but other than that, it should be as normal.

I'm 26+2. Anterior placenta. Didn't feel anything at all until about 22 weeks! MW said that's perfectly normal. Certainly wasn't feeling anything when I went for my 20 week scan.

Definitely have muted movements, for a way of putting it!

Oh I feel flutters, but more like swishing and swooshing! There's definitely something there ;). At the last scan I had, they had the scan on and a doppler on my stomach, so I heard/felt/saw the movement all at the same time which was great :) . However, I definitely don't have kicks. It's been getting stronger though the last week or so, so that's promising!

We have another scan a week on Saturday (paid for a private one). I'm going to ask again at what point I'm going to feel full on movement with an anterior placenta!

I felt my second at 12 weeks with an anterior placenta.

Csection went without a hitch although they said after that the placenta was lower than the last time they'd looked.

nearlymumofone · 13/08/2012 19:33

also felt mine at 12 weeks with an anterior placenta. about to have a c-section, not aware of any problems that could arise- they haven't told me any, when i asked they said that they are aware of that and it's fine.

I'm 40+4 with an anterior placenta and didn't feel obvious movements till 26/27 weeks. However now it's very obvious and you can see my tummy rippling at times.

LackingNameChangeInspiration · 13/08/2012 20:01

I don't think it makes any difference re CSs, I had a very anterior placenta with no 1 and had a CS

I'm possibly having an elective CS again and have an anterior placenta again and the placenta isn't concerning the consultant or midwife at all

Last time I felt flutters in the beginning, but later on kicks were hit n miss, some days I didn't feel any and had to go in for monitoring, which was worrying and annoying but not an actual problem in terms of the baby itself - it was fine

this time I think I'm feeling more, but may have a not totally anterior placenta this time (bit to the side or something?)

I have an anterior placenta and wasn't feeling much movement between16 and 22 weeks, some before that so it was worrying. But now at 25 weeks and for the last 2-3 weeks they kicks are unmistakable and I see my bump move with the kicks too.
My midwife and sonographer were not at all bothered by the anterior placenta. They just checked it was far enough away from the cevix, which it is and siad I might not feel movement so well until the baby is bigger, which is is now and all seems fine.
