Did symptoms come on earlier in your second pregnancies? I'm wondering.

I think you possibly notice them earlier, as you know what you're experiencing.

katiecubs · 13/08/2012 18:54

Think they came on about the same time but have been much milder than last time.

AlfieBear87 · 13/08/2012 19:04

Not sure if mine have started earlier or not as I have no idea how far along I am. But the ms has been even worse than last time :(

Has anyone noticed if their symptoms are worse if they're carrying a girl rather than a boy?

HeffalumpsAndWoozles · 13/08/2012 19:13

Mine started about the same time but when the sickness hit it hit much harder :(

I'm 35 weeks with dc2 now, no idea what we're having but I'm convinced it's a girl as other than things being a bit more 'exteme' this time it's been fairly similar to when I was expecting DD.

I had quite different symptoms this time, but they appeared as quickly as the first time.

With DS1 I started feeling nauseous and TIRED about a week after I got my positive test (tested 3 days after period was due). Prior to that I just had a "feeling" that I was pregnant.

With DS2 I started getting hugely sore boobs and feeling TIRED also about a week after I got my positive test (also tested 3 days after my period was due). I also had the "feeling".

Yes I was feeling sick by 4 weeks, 7 weeks the first time. Everything did seem earlier at first part of my second pregnancy. very strange.

SillyCalamari · 14/08/2012 00:01

I'm 37 weeks and symptoms have definitely come on earlier this time, including feeling pregnant, indigestion, piles (TMI - sorry!), aches and pains, baby feeling lower down etc.
Your body's been there before so it all comes a bit sooner than the first time around. Same reason why subsequent pregnancies tend to involve a quicker birth.
AlfieBear: I'd be v sceptical about people who claim differences boy vs girl... They're usually going on a sample of 1 (maybe 2) of each - hardly proof! I never really understood why people think a tiny penis would make a significant differennce to where they lie / how it affects the mother!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 14/08/2012 00:10

My symptoms were earlier and more severe, and lasted longer. But then the SPD I'd put downtown having had my pelvis already ruined by first pregnancy and tiredness because I was working AND looking after a toddler.

Apparently girl's give you worse symptoms, I had DS then DD but pretty sure my symptoms were worse because it was the second pregnancy as opposed to me carrying a girl

MadMonkeys · 14/08/2012 08:00

My symptoms were more pronounced and hit earlier. Believe it or not the sickness started the day after conception! I could hardly believe it, but it is true.

SneezySnatcher · 14/08/2012 09:37

I have exactly the same symptoms, although maybe a bit milder. They started at the same time though.
I feel very queasy and sensitive to smells but haven't been sick. With DD I wasn't sick until second tri, so I wonder if that will be the same?

SkinnyMarinkADink · 14/08/2012 10:56

This time round is defiantly worse, with dd for the first 12 weeks i was really sick but could still get on with things.

this time i have been so sick i can barely move, have even lost weight!

Not sure on the boy girl differences. i am convinced it is a girl but maybe that is because i don't want a boy?
