C-section is booked for next Wednesday so I bought some Veet bikini line stuff today and dp just made me doubt myself by along if it was okay to use?

Don't want to shave or leave it to the hospital as had an emcs last year and they dry shaved me and the itchy re-growth on the scar was not pleasant!

I haven't looked for ages but isn't there a warning on normal Veet saying not to use it in the bikini area? I'd imagine it could cause very painful rashes used anywhere too sensitive.

Can you book in to get waxed instead?

Google Veet cream bikini kit for the right one.

There is a veet specially for the bikini area OP. It works better than the normal one too.

Sorry wasn't clear - I have got the specific bikini line kit but is there any reason I can't use it in pregnancy?

I read somewhere that you shouldn't as your skin absorbs it...cn't find it now though!

Good luck with c-section and baby!

MissKeithLemon · 09/08/2012 19:13

Oh sorry Whatever! I just assumed Blush you meant that you had regular veet.
I really don't know about using it when pg though sorry.

Maybe ask your midwife if you have an appt soon?

squidkid · 09/08/2012 19:16

Your babs is fully cooked! You will not absorb anything topically that will make any difference now. Wishing you all the best for section and meeting your baby!

Yeah, totes fine :) I use veet bikini wax strips but know not everyone likes em. Good luck!

I think the only issue would be whether you'd used it before or not. Your skin can be more sensitive than normal in pg, so you might have an adverse reaction when you normally wouldn't. Do a patch test first & if you get irritated, don't use it.

soon2bmumof3 · 09/08/2012 21:18

I wouldn't - Im 28weeks and used it about 2 weeks ago - was in bloody agony and I've used it many times before Sad

Whatevertheweather · 09/08/2012 21:29

Ah hadn't thought about reacting to it as I've used it before when not pregnant.

Those who have had elcs - what did you use to sort out your bikini line? Have never been waxed and don't think I could bear it. Have been advised not to shave as I have a prev c-sec scar that is less than 12 months old.

I agree soon2b, really strange

I found this article quite interesting, particularly the following,

"Surgeons used to insist on shaving the area of the body where an operation was to be performed in the misguided belief that it reduced surgical site infections. Now official advice is to leave hair alone, unless it interferes with the operation, and where removal is necessary to use electric clippers."

I wasn't shaved at all when I had my emergency c-section. I have waxed my bikini line in the past whilst pregnant though and it was fine, so you could try that, don't think it's recommended to use veet.
